ARIETTA WAS NOT ONE TO BREAK A PROMISE. Arietta was not one to break a promise. So after attending her first two classes, she headed straight to the library to help Fairy Godmother teach Remedial Goodness 101. The little mermaid's thoughts, the entire day, had been revolving around nothing else but Carlos, so she was excited to have an excuse to hang out with him.

He seemed kind and gentle, even if his mom was one of the worst villains alive. Arietta had a feeling that there was more than what meets the eye when it came to the white-haired villain.

Arietta also liked the others, Mal, Evie, and Jay. They were different from the royal groups she usually hung out with, less preppy and more unique. They reminded her of her best friend Maddie, except saner.

Arietta lightly pushed the door open to see the Fairy Godmother already quizzing the VKs on basic knowledge. From the looks on Mal's face, Arietta knew that the class was torture to them.

"Arietta," Fairy Godmother greeted with her signature curtsy. The four villain kids turned to watch the princess dressed in a nautical pair of shorts and a thin camisole gracefully walk up to the headmistress. "I am so glad that you came!"

The mermaid warily looked at the question on the chalkboard. "Ben told me you might need some help."

"I certainly do," Fairy Godmother giggled, speaking to Arietta like she was a toddler, "Some of your fellow classmates could really use some encouragement," Fairy Godmother hinted to the fact that none of them were paying attention to the lesson.

Arietta's icy eyes scanned her classmates to see Carlos and Jay staring right at her. Arietta sent them a friendly wave, which Carlos happily sent back.

Jay, noticing this put Carlos's hand down and turned to the princess, in turn, to send her a wave along with a flirty wink. Carlos's eyes turned green with jealousy as he shoved Jay away, trying to send Arietta a smile. This action caused a full-on fight between the two boys. They both toppled off their chairs and onto the floor, in a battle for the mermaid's attention.

"Boys! Stop your fighting this instant," Fairy Godmother commanded as she watched them wrestle on the ground. Mal and Evie simply stared at the fight as if it were a spectacle.

Arietta, on the other hand, had become distracted once again by the drawing in Mal's sketchbook. She had stopped looking at the boys long before they began their fight and was unaware that they were even on the floor next to her. Her eyes instead glanced at the intricacy of the wand on the page, that resembled Fairy Godmother's wand.

"That is really pretty, Mal," Arietta praised the purple-haired fairy.

Mal tried to hide her startled expression, not noticing the girl even walk up to their table. Looking back down at her work, her eyes widened, realizing she may have blown their mission. Quickly shutting the book, she turned to look back at Arietta with a smile, "Thanks. I saw it in a book I was reading."

Arietta nodded uninterested in why she was drawing the wand, "You should really join art class," she complimented.

Mal couldn't help her smile, having never been praised for anything in her life. She enjoyed the feeling; it made her feel bubbly inside. Deciding that she was going to like the mermaid, she sent her a wink, "Sounds fun."

"Arietta!" Fairy Godmother shouted, trying to gain the princess's attention.

Arietta quickly looked at the Fairy Godmother, noticing her standing next to the boys who were rolling around on the floor. Raising her hand at the vase of flowers a few feet away from them, Arietta brought a huge bubble of water over to the boys before letting it fall on top of them, effectively ending the fight.

Carlos was the first one to jump up, now soaked from head to toe. He watched the mermaid in awe of her abilities. Carlos felt like the little mermaid managed to find new ways to amaze him every passing second.

Arietta had already moved far away from the boys so that she wouldn't get wet herself, "Sorry."

Fairy Godmother smiled, happy that she could continue on with her lesson, "Now," she straightened her blouse, walking back to the board, "As I was saying-"

This time it was a squeal that interrupted the lesson. Her friend Jane took Arietta's attention this time. She appeared to be horrified by the VKs, as she ran up to her mother, watching the new arrivals with a cautious glimmer in her eyes.

"Hello, dear one," Fairy Godmother said to her daughter, who just sent her a scared smile.

"You need to sign off on an early dismissal for the coronation," Jane shoved the clipboard towards her mother's hands, shaking in fear.

Arietta waved at Jane, "Hey," hoping that another familiar face in the room might make her feel better.

Jane just gave Arietta a scared smile, in return, wanting nothing more than to leave the room.

"Everyone here remembers my daughter, Jane," Fairy Godmother introduced, despite Jane's loud protesting against doing so. Passing the clipboard back to her daughter, she motioned to her students. "Jane, this is everyone."

Jane took a few rigid steps towards the VKs, almost like they were rabid dogs ready to attack, "Hi, that's okay. Don't mind me. As you were," her voice shook, before she looked at Mal, who sent her a kind wave. Jane let out a yelp before sprinting out of the room in fear.

Arietta looked at Mal, guiltily, knowing how Jane's actions must have hurt her. Leaning towards the girl, she put her hand on her shoulder, "She isn't used to new people."

Mal smiled at Arietta, before her face morphed into a cool expression, just like her mother would wear, "I so don't care."

Arietta nodded before walking up to stand near Fairy Godmother. "Let's continue!" The headmistress announced, getting into her lesson, running to the board "You find a vile of poison," she says in a strange voice, "Do you, A) put it in the king's wine, B) paint it on an apple, or C) turn it over to the proper authorities?"

Evie, Carlos, and Jay all threw their hands up, eager to impress Fairy Godmother and Arietta. Jay reach his hand up to pull Carlos's down, again, so he wouldn't be able to answer the question.

"Jay," Fairy Godmother called.

The theif leaned back, "C. Turn it over to the proper authorities."

"I was gonna say that!" Carlos hit Jay's bicep, annoyed that he kept stealing his chances to impress Arietta. Jay began mocking him as he put Carlos into a headlock and lifted him on the table.

Fairy Godmother tapped her pointer against the table, "Boys! Do not make Arietta use her magic again," she threatened, effectively breaking the two apart. Arietta laughed at the two of them.

Fairy Godmother smiled as she watched them scurry back to their seats, "I am going to encourage you to use that energy on the tourney field."

"Oh, no, that's okay," They both began to protest, while Jay said, "Whatever that is, we'll pass."

Arietta thought back to how Ben was saying that they could use a few more players. Their tourney team was not the best, and with the help of the VKs, they may be able to win this season. It would also be a great way for other students to get to know the boys a bit better.

Arietta smiled, turning back to Fairy Godmother, "I can take them during our free period after class," she smiled at the more athletic VK, "You will love it, Jay."
