That night has been on my mind for the longest now. It's been almost a month now. The wedding date was set to August. The argument took place in March and now it's April. Time has flown by faster than I can remember.
Ever since that night William and I have been a bit off as a couple. Normally we would work like gears, one moving along with the other. Nothing has been the same and I think we've both noticed it.
I've been seeing Nathan around even now and then. Don't get any ideas, we're just platonic friends. I try to keep it to a maximum of one conversation per week. Besides that I spend most of my time either at work or at home. William on the other hand has rarely been home. During the week he spends most of his time on set, meanwhile on the weekend he's been meeting up with his mother a lot.
Mrs. Cavalier has been around a lot lately. Normally he would see her maybe two times a month and talk to her maybe once a week, but their meetings have become an every weekend thing.
I think of asking him about it but then I remember his reaction that night I did ask him. I promised him I wouldn't be overbearing so whenever I find myself about to ask for more information, I bite my tongue and hold back instead. It was what he wanted after all.
I wake up to the sound of William getting ready. He fixes his watch in front of the mirror. We make eye contact through the mirror and he looks away, focusing on himself again.
"You're gonna go meet your mother again?" I ask as I rub my face, trying to wake up completely.
"She called this morning" he responds.
I throw the covers off of me and walk over to the bathroom door. As I walk I catch William staring but he looks away when he notices me looking at him. "Okay. Well have fun" is all I say before I close the door.
Sometime while I was getting ready, William must've left because when I walk out of the bathroom, the apartment is completely silent. I walk over to the bed to see a note laying there.
'I hope we can talk when I get back'
I go back to finish getting ready. Once I'm done I look in the mirror one last time. Since it's a Saturday morning, I chose to wear a simple v-neck button down dress. It has small flower prints which give me a spring like feeling. Once I walk out of the building I spot Nathan's car parked out in front.
Once in the passenger's seat, Nathan hands me a coffee cup which I accept happily.
"Thank you"
"So where to?" Nathan asks as he scrolls through his phone.
"Well...Vivian asked how you were doing" I say testing the waters. Nathan looks up from his phone in shock.
Nathan hasn't seen Dean or Vivian since our breakup. I couldn't keep my rare conversations with Nathan a secret from Vivian, but when I told her she told Dean and they've been wanting to see him again. Dean always had this idea that if our history was different, him and Nathan could've been good friends. Vivian, on the other hand, was Nathan's friend at some point and she's been wanting to see him again.
"Me?" He asks confused.
"I told Vivian I ran into you the other day and you know, she wants to catch up too." I say with a nervous smile. Nathan stares at me giving me no clue as to what he's thinking. "What?" I ask as I look away from him. Not knowing what he's thinking scares me and that's when I realize I care about what he thinks.
"Fine. For you. Now tell me the address" Nathan asks as he gets ready to drive.
A smile appears on my face at the excitement of all of us being reunited again. I'm not too sure on how things are gonna go but who knows, maybe we can all be friends.
