Selena took a deep breath, hesitating at the edge of the sparking portal. Her bags were suspended in her shaking hands as she stared through the warped image of Alfea, willing herself forward.

She had just said her last goodbye to her parents — she'd see them again not too long from now, but this would be the longest she'd ever been away from home. The only time she'd been away, really. The universe was huge, and she could only imagine what she'd be getting into as she took her first steps out.

One last look over Galaxia through her window gave her some motivation; the early morning sky was a brilliant collection of pastels as the three suns began to rise, showering the kingdom in orange, yellow, and bluish light. Selena smiled, knowing one day she'd return to her home better and stronger...

...At least, that was the goal.

She shut her eyes and forced her legs forward, a feat that left her gasping as the magic swirled and propelled her forward. She didn't take too many portal trips, so she had forgotten how woozy they could be; she dropped her bags and leaned on her knees for a moment as the world stopped spinning.

The portal had taken her into the woods just in front of the school. The pale beige towers loomed just as they did in the portal, except now much larger and wider in her own eyes. She paused for a moment, taking in the sights of what would be her next home for the foreseeable future.

As a few other girls hopped off a bus, and some others teleported in like her, they all began to form a line that was gradually increasing. Selena stepped her way into it, mumbling her apologies as she bumped into a girl with bright purple hair. The girl just rolled her eyes and faced forward again.

Whoops. Hope not everyone's like this.

Getting to the front felt like ages, although it was probably only fifteen minutes. A tall woman with short brown hair, narrowed hazel eyes, and pointed glasses gazed down at her. "Name?" She asked impatiently, wearing the wrinkles of a stringent lady.

"Oh!" The sudden, sharp order had made Selena forget what she was doing for a second. Being a princess, no one really talked to her like that... except for her parents, if she deserved it. She stumbled over her words for a moment. "Um. S-Sorry, I'm Prince—"

"There's no time for indecision and lengthy introductions. As long as you're attending here, it matters not whether you're princess or pauper — you are all fairies. And beginners at that." The lady rolled her eyes as she spoke, her voice rolling over all the girls behind Selena. "Now. What is your name?"

Selena's eyes were wide, both intimidated and embarrassed. Ouch. But she finally found her voice. "...Selena, of Galaxia."

The woman swiftly checked off her name and waved her away. "Next!" She cried shrilly, making the next girl in line flinch. Selena awkwardly shuffled out of the way, her cheeks burning . Hope nobody really paid attention to that...

But just as she thought those words, a voice piped up from behind her. "Looks like you got the good ol' Griselda Treatment, huh? I'm Brittany, by the way."

Selena turned to see who the commenter was. In front of her stood a beautiful girl with luxurious, long, pale blonde hair that was thrown up into a high ponytail with bangs. The tips of her bangs were colored fiery red, falling right in front of her stark blue eyes. Burgundy lipstick and golden eyeshadow decorated her rosy face. She wore scarlet red, orange, and gold, flashy and bright hues against tanned skin. Her demeanor was bold yet lighthearted, one of a confident and stylish girl.
