Chapter 2

Somehow I make it through the night. I check my phone for the time "Great I overslept...again" I roll my eyes. I sluggishly drag myself out of the bed as my grandmother rushes in to wake me up. "Girl you better wake your butt up...are you feeling okay?" She places her hand on my forehead "I think you have a fever" She tells me to lay back down and stay home from school. I text my best friend, Luke, "hey I'm staying home today..I'll call you after school and tell you why.." I know he won't reply because he's probably already at school. I place my phone back on the table and roll over. Tears fill my eyes as the brothers say "we're here if you need us Raven" they laugh "cmon you know you want to use our gift" I feel the item slip into my hand. One of the brothers takes it and uses it for me "see there you go" he creates magic..silver to red. I hide the gift once again and slip on a long sleeve. I drift back to sleep.

"Hey babe come here! I miss you" a voice sounds in the distance. Her sweet voice calls out to me. I start running towards it. "I'm coming my love!" I find her and fall to my knees. There..she's kissing another..the better one. I'm sitting in the corner watching her kiss what was once mine. I feel my heart breaking into more pieces than before. I see her making the same memories we had with this other one; the better one. I scream but no one can hear me. Soon..I see the better one propose like I had planned to do....I hold of the ring and see it fade from my hand. I rip my heart out of my chest. "End this" I yell. One of the brothers walks up to me and stabs me. I feel no pain though. Suddenly my once girlfriend was standing in front of me with a gun. She pulled the trigger and everything turned white...

I wake up in a pool of sweat and tears. My grandma ran in my room to check on me. I tell her I'm fine and she walks back out. I stare at the ceiling for about 20 minutes before getting up. I walk past my breakfast my grandmother had made for me to take my meds. I sigh loudly..Why do I feel like this? I think to myself. Dragging my feet, I make my way back to my comfort zone and lay back down. My grandmother walks in "you have a doctors appointment at 1:00 so get dressed and I'll take you out to eat" she says. "No I'm okay. I'm not feeling well enough to eat" she nods in concern and walks out. The brothers walk up to me and keep me company for a while. Usually they're rude and annoying but I guess my sister let the cat out the bag. That snitch. But I guess this is nice. Sean and Jack are my younger brothers who happen to be twins. They like to pull pranks on the family like switching up their identities, which gets a little confusing. They both fall asleep on both sides of me. Heather walks in and carries Sean while I carry Jack back to their own room then I make my way downstairs. My grandma was watching a movie specifically a Christmas movie and it's not even Halloween yet! "Grandma...it's not...it's not even Halloween yet! Why are you watching Christmas movies?!?" I asked. She focuses her attention on me "It's never too early to watch Christmas movies" she returns to her own universe of moving pictures. "Well I'm going to Luke's house. I'll be back later alright?" She nods as I walk out the door. The sidewalk was empty as usual but it seemed a lot lonelier. The silence continued to get louder and louder until it felt like someone was screaming in my ears. I start to zone out. A memory of my ex and I flashes before my eyes. We look so happy together. I run to her and she fades away as I get closer and closer. The atmosphere grows dark and dreary. I snap back to reality as I almost pass Luke's house. His driveway seemed longer than ever as I made my way to the door. The doorbell sounds like a bell on a bell tower right next to my ear. Anxiety fills my body as I hear footsteps approaching the door. Luke opens it "Raven. Are you okay? Why haven't you answered your phone?" He wraps me in his strong arms worriedly. "I'm fine Luke. It's just.." I pause as I tear up "...She left me.." I say crying. He hugs me tighter as he gets more and more angered with every tear that streams down my cheeks. He leads me inside and up to his room. He takes me to his bed and sits down next to me while holding me. "Why did she do this to me..I..just don't understand" he hushes me. I look up at him and whisper thank you and put my head down on his shoulder closing my eyes slightly just enough to doze off. He lays me down in his bed, covers me up and turns out the light. Luke walks out of his room into the living room with his parents. "Mom, I'm really worried about raven. She's been through breakups before but she's never been affected like this" his mom looks up from the cutting board at him "maybe she needs some time away from relationships honey. I know how you feel about her, but-" "mom! She's my best friend and plus I have a girlfriend" Luke turns away and blushes slightly hiding his face. He walks back upstairs to check on me. I sit up "how long have I been asleep?" I ask sleepily "not too long. About 20 minutes. It looked like you needed it so I left you alone" I nodded slightly. I stand up and walk over to him "will you walk me home. I don't want to zone out and miss my driveway" he laughs nervously. We walk down the empty sidewalk together. Our conversation wasn't very long; mostly silence. I look at him and hug him. "Thank you Luke" he hugs back. I walk inside and turn towards him and close the door.
