How To Save a Life

Chapter 3

"Raven do we have to use the gift for you?" One of the brothers asked. "Please, leave me alone" I beg. They refused to leave me alone. Silver to red again. I want them to stop. Forever.

It's fall break. Months after she left me. Luke and I have been getting closer and closer but his girlfriend is always in the way of things. She always gives me dirty looks when I'm around him or I'm "too close" In fact the other day she threatened me saying if I don't back off him she'll kill me. She is so bad for him. It's not just the jealousy saying that, I really mean it. I see the way he looks at her compared to how he looks at me. If you haven't put the pieces together yet, I'm in love with Luke. I noticed it about three weeks ago. I knew they've always been there but I haven't mentioned anything to anyone even myself. "Luke!" I say as I run up to him. He hugs me tightly "hey Rae. I'm so glad you're better. I've missed this you." I smiled "yeah I've missed me too honestly." We laugh  slightly. His girlfriend, who's name shall not be mentioned because I don't like her name, walks snobbishly up to us. She's beautiful. I could never compete with her..everything about her is perfect. She's skinny, I'm fat or "I have pillow fluffiness" as Luke calls it; she's tan, I'm pale; she's funny, I have a dark humor; she is perfect, I'm the opposite. "Hey Lukie!" She yells from afar. She runs up to him and pushes me out of the way almost knocking me down. Luke pushes her slightly and helps me regain my balance. "Listen, you have to respect Raven if you want us to continue being together" he argues. "Babe, look at her. She's a nobody. You are somebody. Why do you even hang out with her? I'm starting to think somethings going on between you two" She narrows her eyes looking dead at me. Luke grows furious "she is NOT a nobody! She is my best friend! She has been herd way longer than you have! I-" I cut him off "Luke it's okay..I'll just go home. You two can hang out okay? I don't wanna intrude any longer." I slowly walk away with my head down. I hear them arguing even more the farther away I get. Luke obviously wanted me to stay but she didn't..I don't want to be the cause of them breaking up.

                              TIME SKIP

It's been three hours since I've left them. I wonder how everything went today. There is a knock on the door "I'll get it!" I yell. The knocking continues as I approach the door. I fling the door open and it's Luke. He storms in and grabs me. "Raven.." he tears up slightly. I hug him tightly back wondering what's wrong. He stumbles back slowly but I bring him back into my embrace. I lead him into my living room on the couch. He slumps back. "What's wrong Luke?" I ask. He looks deeply in my eyes. His pupils are dilated which means he's drunk. "Luke. Are you drunk?" I ask stupidity "Why in the hell are y.." he starts leaning in towards me. "It's always been you Raven. I *huccup* I love you. Not her" he kisses me. Tears fill my eyes. No this isn't right. I think to myself. I push him away. "Luke you're drunk. I'm taking you home." I head up to my room to grab my phone. Luke follows. "Raven please don't make me leave. Can't I just crash here?" he grabs my sleeve causing my wounds from the brothers to burn under the fabric of my shirt. He catches my flinch and lifts my sleeve. "What the hell is this?" I pull my arm back but he grabs it violently. "It's nothing Luke. You are DRUNK" I storm into my room. "You want to crash here? Fine? Here's some stupid clothes. Go stay in my brothers' room. Goodnight Luke." I slam the door in is face. The brothers start screaming my name. They both sit on my bed with me and grab their gift. "Raaaveeen. You've been neglecting our gift. Why?" I look at the ceiling. "Just leave me alone. Please. I don't want this anymore. It has gone.." one places his long dark hand over my mouth. Tears roll down my cheeks as I go numb from the pain. "Let us help you Raven" one brother says. I struggle as they reveal the present which was once silver but stained red. Both brothers hold me down as the second brother uses his free hand to create more red. I try to scream but Im paralyzed under the bondage.
