As the Marauders entered the Great Hall and Kaia saw her opportunity, she excused herself from her own house table, leaving Emma curious and puzzled.

"I need to speak with Sirius Black," she replied, her voice firm and determined, and with that, she headed towards the Gryffindor table.

Emma's reaction was almost instinctive, her surprise evident as she nearly spat out her food at Kaia's revelation. "Sirius Black?" she whispered, pulling her friend to sit back down.

Kaia casually looked at the arm around her, seemingly unbothered. Her voice was calm as she nonchalantly replied to Emma, "I'm going to ask him out on a date."

Emma's eyes widened even further, hardly believing what she had heard. "You're what?!" she asked incredulously.

Emma's shrill shriek pierced the air, causing Kaia to place her hand to her ear, wincing slightly at the sudden high-pitched noise. She glanced at the other Slytherin students, who were watching the scene unfold but kept their distance.

None of them dared to intervene, knowing better than to interfere with either Kaia or Emma. They quickly averted their attention back to their meals, trying to avoid any further disturbance.

As a Head Girl, Kaia's house was bursting with pride, and her status only increased the admiration and respect she received from her housemates. Emma, being the Quidditch Captain of their house, also garnered significant respect and admiration. They had earned their positions through hard work and merit, but their standing within the house had only grown more pronounced now.

Kaia explained with a casual shrug, "He asked me out, but I didn't get a chance to reply— so I'm doing it myself."

"But do you even fancy him? I've heard he's a bit of a playboy," Emma inquired.

Kaia responded with a hint of dismissiveness, "I don't really fancy him, and I hardly know him. But my sister suggested that I go on a date with him."

Emma's tone changed to one of concern, "But he'll probably just break your heart."

"Yes, it's a possibility," Kaia responded, acknowledging the risk.

Emma furrowed her brows, her concern evident in her expression. "And you're still going to ask him?"

"Well," Kaia shrugged, "What's the harm, right?"

Emma listened attentively as Kaia tried to justify her decision. The atmosphere was thick with tension and a hint of disbelief.

"What if you start developing feelings for him?" Emma reiterated her concern for her friend growing.

Kaia thought for a moment, a soft sigh escaping her lips. "It could happen, but I doubt it," she responded, her voice lacking conviction.

The room became even tenser as Kaia attempted to convince herself as much as Emma.

"I doubt it," Kaia echoed, her voice betraying her lack of confidence.

Emma's concern grew even more, her eyes searching Kaia's face for any sign of vulnerability or hesitation.

"If you develop feelings for him, it could complicate things," Emma pointed out, her worry growing by the minute.

Kaia shook her head slightly, her stubbornness evident. "It's just a date. I can handle it."

"Just be careful," Emma warned, her motherly instincts taking over. "If you do end up developing feelings, it could lead to heartbreak and a lot of disappointment."

Kaia nodded, trying to reassure her. "I'll be fine," she insisted, though her voice lacked certainty.

Despite Emma's concerns and warnings, Kaia continued to brush them off, appearing unbothered by the potential consequences.

"Alright, I'll head over," Kaia said, standing up from the table and starting to make her way towards the Gryffindor table.

Emma watched as her friend walked away, a mix of concern and resignation on her face.

Kaia's footsteps echoed through the Great Hall as she walked over to the Gryffindor table, garnering the attention of her housemates. They watched her with raised eyebrows and murmured amongst themselves, curious about her destination.

Most of them were shocked to see her approach the Gryffindor table, considering she was a Slytherin, who didn't really interact with anyone from another house, even her own sister.

However, the surprise grew even more as she headed straight towards Sirius Black, who was laughing and joking with his friends.
