It was getting close to midnight in Ninjago city. There was still people active though. Interns getting ready for a promotion, construction workers making sure the building they are working on is stable, and the homeless people in the streets.
5 people wearing hoodies were walking through those very streets. They were following their guide. The one in the black hoodie spoke up.
"Captain are you sure this guy is trustworthy?"
The one in the white hoodie spoke before the captain had a chance to.
"There is a 95% chance that he is being true to his word. He knows that HE will deal with us if we plan on betrayal."
"Thanks for the reassurance." The black hoodie said sarcastically.
"It was of no problem to me." The white hoodie replied.
(If I say black and white instead it will sound racist.)
"No offense, but will you two stop talking so loudly?" The one in the grey hoodie asked.
Before anyone could say anything else their guide stopped in front of a dark alley.
"We're here." He said. He turned around but before he walked off he spoke 2 words.
"Good Luck."
Then he disappeared into the night.
"Let's go." The one in the green hoodie said, stepping into the alley first. The others soon followed.
They arrived at a dead end.
"HE should be here!" The grey one exclaimed, waving their hands in the air.
"Maybe we were double crossed." The last one, the one in a dark blue hoodie, mumbled.
"Damn it." The black hoodie said.
Then a voice appeared out of nowhere. It sounded like the owner was in their twenties but it had a wisdom that shouldn't be achieved until well over 80.
"Are hoods how you have to travel around? I thought Pirates never hide? Show your faces."
There was a certain scorn to the word Pirates that made them shiver. The first one to take their hoodie off was the black one.
His eyes were a soft violet and he had raven black, shaggy, side swept hair. His eyebrows were very bushy. An unusual green scar ran down the side of his face. He had a few normal looking scars scattered here and there but they were all healed.
Next was the grey one. She had black hair in a high bun. She had sapphire blue eyes and a black dot on her cheek. She only had 1 scar on her cheek.
Then came the white one. He had pale skin and icy blue eyes. His platinum blond hair stood straight up. He had straight, black eyebrows. Before the next one could be unveiled the voice spoke up again.
"Come on. No illusions. I want to see the real you, not a hologram."
He complied, the hologram flickering off to show an Android underneath. He was made from titanium, his hair too. His eyes were still the same color, only glowing. There was a small scratch in the metal near his hair.
Then came the green hoodie. He had blond hair, swept to the side a little bit. His eyebrows were brown. His eyes were a piercing red. He had a few scars but not as much as the black hooded man.
The final one, the blue one, then revealed himself. His eyes were an ocean blue. His hair and eyebrows were brunette, a scar running through his left one, cutting through it cleanly. He had little freckles on his cheek. He had more scars than the girl but less than the green one.
"So why do you seek me out? To catch me again?" The voice asked.
"We need your help." The blue one asked.
"Jay Walker. High ruler of Ninjago and captain of the Missfortune's Keep. Needs my help?" The voice asked mockingly.
"Kai we need you!" The blue one (Jay) shouted.
"I needed you 3 years ago!" Kai shouted back. They still couldn't locate him though.
"Lloyd. You swore an oath to protect Ninjago. I guess those words were empty." Kai said. Lloyd (Green one) looked at the ground.
"Nya. A samurai and a ninja are supposed to serve with honor on the battlefield. What's honorable about piracy?" Kai directed to Nya (Grey one). Nya lowered her gaze.
"Cole. You promised that you would protect me. Where was that 3 years ago?" Cole (Black hood) had the same reaction as Nya.
"Zane. You were built to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Is turning on them protecting them?" Zane (White hood) looked at the ground.
"Jay... you wanted to make the world a better place with your inventions. Well, you invented a terrible decision." Jay gritted his teeth.
"Will you help us or not!" Jay shouted into the darkness.
Then, they saw movement beside them. They turned to see someone stand up. He was wearing a brown rice hat and brown clothing. He had a white undershirt on as well. He took off his hat.
"Of course I will help. The Overlord has returned and we need to defeat him." Kai said. He lifted his head. A golden eye and a firey amber eye gazed at him, the golden eye being his left.
"Change to the bad can often be countered with growth to the light. In order to defeat the darkness, you need to visit the past. The past is what shapes the fate of Ninjago now." Kai said to them. "And even now. You may believe I am your enemy now, but, I was first your brother."
There was a tension in the air so Cole decided to speak up.
"When did you decide to become wise?" He joked.
"When the bounty was burned down." Kai answered. The Pirates winced, remembering the day.
"How's Sensei, Misako?" Lloyd asked, trying to break the ice. Kai looked at the ground.
"Misako has been missing since the day. Wu is... no longer alive... he perished in the fire." Kai said, a tear slipping from his right eye.
Lloyd's breath hitched. He didn't want that. Nya choked back a sob. Tears ran down Cole's face. Zane looked away in sadness. Jay gasped at held his hand in front of his face. His was fighting back tears. He was about to say something when Kai stopped him.
"Save it. Be at the foot of the mountain by sunrise. Your training begins then." Kai said. He then turned and jumped up a wall, landing on the roof and running off.
The Pirates walked out, pulling their hoodies up as they retreated. Kai watched them go in sadness. Suddenly, his eyes turned golden and he spoke in a voice different to his own.
"I hope they can learn to be who they were Kai."
A second later Kai spoke again. In his own voice this time.
"They will. Or Ninjago will fall."
