April ; 2015
April showers bring May flowers…
That's how the saying goes.
And today, it is definitely raining.
JungMi's mind seems to jump around as the pitter-patter of rain against the pavement disturbs each thought that comes to mind, jumbling them all together.
Her thoughts jump from one to another. One moment she is thinking of what flowers would bloom in May because of the rain today, then the next moment her mind is filled with thoughts about him; about where he is and when he'll arrive.
She wonders if today's showers will bring him to her like how April showers bring flowers in May.
And if so, just to continue the analogy, she wonders what kind of flower he would be; what flower would he come to her as today.
She can imagine him as a quiet flower…
One that blooms in silence and it's beauty is divine but overshadowed by the allure of the other blossoms that bloomed around it.Only the most observant of people can appreciate the beauty of such a flower.
But JungMi can also see him as a vibrant and eye catching blossom. He would be the flower everyone wants to pick, but everyone would let him be in fear of his vibrant beauty dying from being pulled from his roots. People admire him from afar.
But above all, NamJoon would be a flower with meaning; with significance.
He's like a…
JungMi sees a glimpse of sunlight peeking through the storm clouds.
… he's like a sunflower.
Bright and cheery and as warm and inviting as the sweet summer sun.
With petals like rays of sunlight; an undeniable sun-like appearance.
The flower that symbolizes pure thoughts.
Adoration, loyalty, and longevity.
It's strong and upright stem represent a strong bond between two people.
Sunflowers are the perfect gift to bring joy to someone’s day.
And NamJoon has definitely been a gift to her.
Would he gift her today again with his presence?
Since there are no flowers for her to pluck petals off of, she settles for leaning over the window ledge and sticking her head out to watch the water droplets fall from the roof over her head. She focuses on the puddle that forms in the dents in the pavement and how the water droplet causes ripples on the surface; each ripple seems to be the equivalent of a flower petal that tells her whether Joon is coming to the bookstore today or not.
"He's coming…" The rim of one ripple flattens out.
"He's not coming…" The series of waves keep going.
"He's coming… He's not coming… He's coming… He's not coming… He's coming—" JungMi stops her counting when the surface of the puddle becomes still as the last ripples of the water droplet disperse.
She waits for another drop of water to fall into the puddle to see if the prediction would be different, but she is startled when someone's foot lands in and splashes the water in the puddle.
JungMi lifts her gaze to see that the water droplet that would have landed in the puddle instead splatters against the yellow canopy of an umbrella.
