"No…"
A gasp escaped my mouth. It was the word I so hated to hear. I didn’t want her to kill for my sake. Not again.
From the bottom, I saw Maria look towards my direction and I could see that she was very shocked. Did she hear me? From this distance? She can hear me the same way I could hear her. How could that be possible?
"Did you hear everything?" I heard her whisper. I could even hear her simple whispers.
"I-I did." my voice was cracking as I answered her.
"I thought you were asleep…" her voice was cracking too.
"I woke up cause of the wind."
"Wind huh?"
It was an awkward conversation, where both of us were afraid to speak because we might say something that shouldn't be said.
"Hey, that's him right?" My sight went to Nina, and her expression was very familiar. She had the same expression when I first encountered Maria again. A face with a grin and eyes so narrowed with lust. A face of evil. I didn't have a good feeling about her.
"He's hot, Maria."
I was disgusted when I heard her comment. I hate comments like those; I couldn't help but get goose bumps. I saw Maria turn to her rapidly and gave her a death glare.
"Watch your words Nina." she threatened."Yours too." but Nina shows no fear.
Maria had enough and she just returned to being quiet.
"It's best to ignore her, Joseph. I know you can hear her too." She knows. This mean she knows how we could hear each other.
I was really curious, who was this Nina? I know she's the Student Council President, but what was Nina to Maria? Well, instead of being enemies. Judging by the way they talked to each other, it seems like they've know each other for a long time.
It was a moment of silence where no one spoke a word. Not I, Not Maria, Not even Nina. Silence took over; just enough so we could hear a soothing wind, but no matter how soothing the wind was, it couldn't make me forget what I heard.
She'll kill again.
She'll kill again to feed the tree.
She'll kill again to feed the tree so I could be alive.
I still didn't know how a tree can keep me alive, but I won't take any chances but I didn't want her to kill either. I'm so confused.
