I HAVE PUT THE SOLO DANCE NYRA PERFORMS ABOVE.
***************************************************************************************
It's only the second day and I am already late. I just stuff my breakfast in my mouth and my mom forces me to eat some sweet yoghurt as a good luck for my audition. I catch my bus at the last moment but I still don't find a seat so I stand all the way to school.
I reach my locker to see Jake, Emily and Wesley waiting for me. "You guys are waiting for me and didn't go to class?" , I ask in disbelief. "That's what friends do right? Duh.", Wesley speaks for all of them."I thought you guys wouldn't wait as we have just met", I mutter to myself. "So how did the choreography go? Nervous?", Emily asks.
"Very, I couldn't sleep last night" , as I say that the bell rings and I go to my English lecture with Wesley. "Mr Fitz" are the words written on the board. Since I am late, the only seats left are in the middle of the class and I have no other option. "Since today is the first lecture of the semester, we won't do much. So how many of you have seen the movie vertical limit?", only 2 or 3 hands go up.
"I will tell you the first scene of the movie and then we will have a small debate." he explains. Mr Fitz tells the story of how due to 2 amateurs a family of 3: a dad, a son and a daughter are left hanging im the air ,only a rope supporying them when they are rock climbing. The father forces his son, Peter to cut off the rope to save them. Peter actually cuts off the rope and the father dies.
So the question of the debate is "Should the mother condemn Peter for cutting the rope off?" The entire class was silent for a moment.
"Well she shouldn't condemn Peter because he hadn't cut the rope, all 3 of them would have died instead of 1", I say,
"She obviously should condemn him, it is normal human reaction. She lost her husband, whom she had known for like 25 years! Yelling it out will make her feel better. If she does not yell Peter will feel bad himself that why is his mother not yelling. It will make him feel worse.",I turn around at the voice and there he is sitting with his glasses on. Ughhh...why does he have to be everywhere! That jerk just ruins my whole day.
"But he will already be guilty and condemning him will make him feel worse. He can probably go into depression,", I practically yell.
"Well not letting the feelings out and bottling them can also lead to depression", he yells back. I am kinda about to lose my patience. Wesley has his hands on my shoulders to calm me down and he is rubbing them. I just have one last point to make.
"Well she shouldn't condemn because he had no other options. His father was the leader and you always have to listen to your leader in such situations. Always." I had learned this from dance.
This left Liam and the rest of the class speechless. "Well this was fun.", Mr Fitz remarks. Then the bell rings and the class disperses. "For next week you have to read Agatha Christie's 'And then there were none'. Thank you", He says as everyone is out. As I move out I catch Liam's eyes on me and he immediately turns away but I keep looking till he is out if sight. Wesley's fake coughs break me out of my trance.

"Hey are you guys free at like 5:30 today? , I ask the other 3 while sitting at the lunch table. "Anything for you babe", Jake says and I choke on the water I was drinking and go into a coughing fit. Emily helps me recover from it while Wesley is laughing his ass off. Jake gives him a smack on his head as I recover. "Ow! I thought only Emily had the right to hit me." Wesley exclaims.
"Don't worry Nyra, he hits on everyone but of course he has a boyfriend", Em says. Emily is too long for me. "Boyfriend??", I ask in shock. "Wait so you haven't realized I am gay. Well I am proud of it and I don't mind telling people" Jake says.
"Well I am proud of you that you have come out openly. But back to my question people", I remind them.
" We were thinking that we would come to your auditions as well and since you want us after that as well I am free. I have no other work anyways", Emily says. " Em is anyways jobless. Wes and I were about to go to my place but we'll come at yours instead"
"Thanks guys. I needed help to paint my room" "We are in!", they all exclaim at once. They are weirdly very excited about it.
I pace around in the backstage, my nails in my mouth. "Just one second please!" , I hear Jake's voice. I rush out to see the 3 of my friends with another lady. "Here she is", Emily says. "You guys really came", I exclaim. "Obviously we did. All the best bitch"
"Hey can you guys video call my friend in India when I perform? There is a group chat , you will just need to call and show them the dance that is if they pick up" "You don't need to say twice"
I can't help but grin. They are exactly like my friends back in India. They are so damn supportive and I can already feel I have made the best of friend who'll be through the thick and thin.
When my name is called I walk on the stage. I perform my best , with a lot of energy and grace on "Olha A Explosao", At the end I can see Jake, Wesley and Emily are clapping the loudest. I bow once, before I leave. At the end she calls the name who will come again tomorrow before their names are finalized but they do not need to prepare a choreography. My name is the first one to be called and I am beyond excited. Just one step before I am in the squad.
"Next destination: Nyra's house. Choo - choo ", Wesley says after I hug all of them. Jake even lifts me in the air, I don't know how. I am not exactly the lightest person. Since my sense of direction is very bad I use google maps to tell Wesley the direction to my house. I can't learn roads in 2 days.
My mom seems shocked when she sees the three of them but immediately smiles to hide the look. I know she is not that comfortable when I am with more than 2 boys. All three of them seem awkward around her, so I just rush upwards to the room with them. "It definitely needs a new color," Emily remarks.
I hand them 2 buckets of blue color, some brushes and rollers I bought from target. All of us are sincerely working but then something gets into Jake and he paints a stroke on Emily. "You son of a bitch", she says and that is the beginning of a paint fight. The fight only stops when my mom walks in and all of us freeze in our place. My mom's eyes are wide with shock. "Would you guys like something to eat?", she says being the typical Indian gujrati mom. "No Mrs Sharma, we were just leaving in some time after we finish the room", Wesley says for all of them. "Ok then, you guys continue your.....work. And please call me auntie not Mrs Sharma", saying which my mom leaves.
We then quietly continue our work and room finishes in an hour and it looks pretty good. We do not look less than a piece of art after the fight. The grins on our faces tell how proud we are of the work. "You guys sure you do not want to change to something better?" I ask while controlling my laughter.
"I will need a long hair wash", Emily whines.
We joke around for a little longer and Jake keeps on commenting on my room before they leave, without changing. "The world needs to see this piece of art", I remember Wesley saying this pointing to himself.
I take a shower removing all the paint from my body and hair before going down for dinner. "I like you friends", my mom says.
This thing makes me the happiest, my mom approving of all my friends.
Tomorrow I will find out about my dance.
