Falling for the Foreigner

Chapter 62- Such hot people can be single too?

We all quickly finish up our lunch to go for speedboat sightseeing. This is for the first time in 10 years all of us are at the same place. Liam wasn't there for Andrew and Alina's wedding so we don't include that. The harsh wind is slapping our faces, as droplets of water splash onto us, refreshing us. If we were in high school right now, we would be screaming like a group of hooligans but I guess we have that under control now. I haven't gotten a chance to talk to Liam yet so I walk over to him and tap his shoulder. 

"Hey!"

"Didn't get to say hi to you with multiple conversations going on together...Hi!", he says and hugs me.

"How are things? Completed your degree?", he asks.

"Just a few months back....finally! Started working in this hospital. How's football going?"

"Soccer"

"Same thing"

"It's going so good actually. Getting to play a lot for big teams"

"That's great! Like you always wanted. How's Celestine?"

"She's just turned 10 last month, full of sass and a big time trouble maker"

"Complete opposite to her brother I see", he laughs and goes into a story about something she did a few days back. I can't help myself from staring at him and the enthusiasm with which he is talking about his younger sister.

We both stop talking and stare at the sunset in front of us. The sky is tinted in hues of pink and purple as the orange orb of heat and light goes down into the sea. Emily comes from behind wraps her arms around my waist and rests her head on my back and I feel back at home. Just my friends,  a beautiful view, soothing wind and the feeling of belonging.

We go back to the rooms after having dinner. We are leaving day after tomorrow so we are trying to spend a lot of time together. After an hour alone, we meet up in Jake's room with a pack of cards and a pack of UNO. We are all sprawled on 1 bed, with the cards between us. Jake is telling us of his boyfriend who travels with him, both of them DJing and how music helped them unite. I can feel Liam's eyes on me but I don't want to look at him.

 I never knew a UNO game could last over 20minutes but this one did. It was a very intensive and competitive game with Wesley and Amy adding their own rules whenever they want. And by doing this Amy wins the game. 

"Guys?", Emily says as we laying on the bed listening to rockabye baby to reminisce the old days. Everyone makes a sound for her to continue.

"I am pregnant", Andrew immediately stops the music.

"OMG!!!"
"Congratulationsss"
"Go Ian!!"

We all hug her tightly from all sides.

"Breathing  space guys", she says and we all pull away.

"At point are you?

"8 weeks in. So this vacation is nice for me", I have been in touch with Emily the most out of everyone and she has been telling me that she and Ian have been trying to conceive and its finally happening, though it was a surprise for me too.

"Do I get to be the godmother?"

"Name him Wesley if its a boy"

"You didn't tell me if you were dating someone", Liam asks as we are walking through the Dolphin mall.

"You are more upfront than I remember you to be"

"Worked on my personality. You didn't answer the question."

"Well there aren't many guys in Psychology and I am not a dating site person, so none at the moment."

"So you did have earlier?"

"Two or three, though not long lasting. Might have to end up on dating sites if this goes on for long. What about you Mr famous footballer?"

"Well I won't disagree with the fact that tons of girls are obsessed with me and my charms but I am not charmed by anyone"

"Still the narcissist I see."

"Did date this girl in college for almost a year though", a pang of jealousy hits my heart. 

Get a grip Nyra, it been 10 years! Guess whatever all those writers said about first love was correct, I am not completely over it.  So wait we are both single? Such hot people can be single too?

After coming back from shopping we rush to the beach to have some fun. Though its hot in summers, its pretty cool by the beach. We lay the blanket we just brought and put our bags on it to keep it from flying. I have been trying really hard to get comfortable in my skin and wear bikinis and I am not sure its going really well. My parents have, till I was 20 told me not to wear extremely revealing clothes and I think that has made me lose all of my body confidence. They didn't permit me to wear hot shorts or tube tops or bikinis and it has affected me so much that I don't think I'd be able to wear it even when they are not here to control me.

"You should protect your own body", they have been saying, and they have never really understood others' point of view but their orthodox thinking can't be changed and neither can the effect it has had on me. Instead of a bikini, I end up bringing a 'tankini'. 

We rush into the waters and start splashing all around. Andrew and Wesley pushing Amy down into the water as she flaps her hands to come back up. I try to back away from them quickly and end falling backwards onto Liam. To top it all off, he lets me go and I fall into the water. I get back up quickly to splash water onto him but he holds my hands and pulls me to him. I don't know what to do and we just stand there staring at each other, deep into each other's eyes. I don't know how long we stand like that for before he puts his lips slowly onto mine. Our lips start moving to each other's rhythm. This kiss obliterates me, it is like coming home or being born or suddenly finding an entire half of myself that had been missing. Everything around me seemed to go away, it was only him and his lips. The kiss starts to get my passionate as he tries to push his tongue in.

We are both broken out of our trance as our friends start cheering behind us. We pull after the realisation of where we are. Suddenly all of our friends start congratulating us, with whoops and cheers and I can't help but smile from ear to ear. I know I told back in high school I'd never be able to forgive him or look at him without thinking about my accident but maybe all I needed was time. Now that I have a career, even though it is not in dance, everything I did back then seems so immature and Liam seems like THE right person.

We walk back from the beach, hand in hand to our hotel . As we pass through the gates of the hotel, we walk into another life, through the gate of our future where Liam is my forever. 

And that he is.
