The next night, Jamie went to see Mavis.
(A/N She was back in her regular clothes now.)
She knocked on her door and waited for a minute. Mavis then answered the door and smiled to see Jamie.
"Hey, Jamie. What brings you here?" Mavis asked.
"Hi, Mavis. I just thought we could talk," Jamie answered.
"Sure. Come on in," Mavis said.
Jamie went in and Mavis closed the door behind her. They then sat on her bed.
"So what did you want to talk about?" Mavis wondered.
"About...your dad," Jamie said.
"Okay. Did you guys get together yet?" Mavis asked excitedly.
Jamie looked at her, a little surprised, then replied, "Not yet. But wait. I thought you would be overprotective of him. I remembered him telling me that you weren't as supportive of his and Ericka's relationship to begin with."
"Well, that was mainly because I sensed something wrong with her. When you came back into my dad's life, that feeling didn't come back. I knew how much you cared for him and still care for him," Mavis explained.
Jamie smiled and said, "Thank you, Mavis. But do you know that I zinged with him, even when he married your mother?"
"Yes. And how you didn't want to ruin either friendship with them, so you kept your feelings to yourself. You wanted him to be happy, even if it meant he couldn't be with you. But now you can," Mavis told her, placing her hands on Jamie's.
"I don't know, Mavis. It's up to your father to decide," Jamie said then added, "Did you know Dennis set us both up on a date?"
"Yeah. He has a plan to get you both together. He's even started calling you Mama Jamie," Mavis answered with a chuckle.
Jamie giggled at that, saying, "Apparently my dream is coming true without me."
When they stopped, Mavis told her seriously, "Well, right now, he's being hesitant because he blames himself for losing my mom and Ericka."
"I can tell he does. But I want to assure him that it wasn't his fault," Jamie said.
"I guess we'll see," Mavis told her.
"Yeah," Jamie nodded.
Not too long after, Jamie left. Mavis turned into a bat and flew up to the roof where Johnny was.
"So?" Johnny asked.
"She only suspects Dennis. The next part of the plan is a go," Mavis told him.
