Chapter 20 - Love always win?

Zac went straight to Ashley's house. His mind was full of ideas, but he didn't want to be too enthusiastic and Ashley was the perfect person to tell him which way to go.

He rang the bell and Chris opened the door for him.

- Hey Zac, how are you bro? - he said.

- Hey Chris! I'm good, thanks! I miss you man, we have to hang out one of this days.

- Yeah, for sure! Come on in, Ash is right there.

He entered the house and sit on the couch in front of Ashley and Chris. He started to tell his ideas to them.

- Listen, Z, I know you love to do big gestures like that, but love isn't about big gestures or the most expensive gift. If you want to show her how much you love her, you're gonna have to show her that the last 8 years without her were the worst years of your life, you're gonna have to bring all to the table. I know it's hard to tell her everything you want to, but you have to fight for her, it's your last oportunity - Ashley said.

- Come on babe, everyone loves a big romantic gesture - Chris said - if you want my opinion, i think that you should do what your heart tells you to do. 

- Thanks guys, this really helped me - Zac said, being sarcastic.

- Z, it's you, i bet you that you can do everything and you will win her, because she's truly, madly, deeply in love with you. - Ash said.

Zac thanked them and went home. He had a lot to think of but he still wanted to do something big for her, to get her for good.

------------------------------------------2 DAYS BEFORE THE WEDDING---------------------------------------

Vanessa was at her bedroom, trying to figure it out, once and for all, if she really will get married. It's the typical long fight between her brain and her heart. If her brain thinks she needs to get married with Austin because of everything he did for her, her heart is completely in love with a blue-eyed guy. This whole thing is driving her crazy and she felt she really needed to disappear for a while. 

She got dressed and called Stella so they can talk about the wedding. 10 minutes later, Stella arrived at Vanessa's home.

- Hey sis! - Stella said.

- Hey StellBell.

- So, how's the bride feeling? Two days from now, you're married!

- Yeah, i'm excited. Can't wait to marry Austin! - She lied.

- Yeah, i can see that - Stella lied too - and you can call me mom now, because you think you can fool me.

- It's true, I'm really looking forward to get married.

- Yeah, about that I don't have any doubt... The only doubt i have is about the husband.

- Stella, we're not gonna talk about this again. Forget it, my decision is made.... There's a big day coming and I have to focus on that....So, i want to talk to you about your dress, i want to see it! Show me!

- No! It's a surprise but i think you're gonna love it! - Stella said.

- A surprise? Really, on my wedding day? The day I've been planning for the past weeks and now you have a surprise?!? I hope you behave yourself!

- Don't freak out! It's just a dress! - Stella yelled - But if you don't like surprises, we're gonna have a problem.

- What?! Why?!? What's happening?

- Oh nothing, nothing....

- Stell, you're gonna tell me, and you're gonna tell me right now!

- Oh, it's just a surprise the man you loved planned for you, don't worry! After all, it's your wedding day!

- Okay, you're right. I hope Austin prepare something special.

- Yeah, sure, it's Austin... - Stella said, muttering - so, my dress, you're gonna love it! It's amazing, you will see, but only at the wedding.

- Fine! But listen, remember you can't look prettier than me - Vanessa laughed.

------------------------------------------ THE WEDDING DAY-----------------------------------------------------

Zac was at home when he received a call.

- Hey Ash!

- Hey Z! Are you ready? Everything okay?

- Yeah, I've got all prepared. Hope this works, I really do Ash!

- Of course will work! Trust me. And, hey, have you talked to Alexandra already?

- Yeah, i told her... Things didn't end the way I wanted, but I have to do this... Alex is an amazing girl, i really like her, but it's not love, i can't fool her anymore. 

- Proud of you, blue eyes! Hey, don't get late, it's the big day. Call me when you get here! Bye.

- Bye, Ash. Love you!

Then, Zac entered his car, determined to do one of the biggest love gestures of all time. He knew, this was his last opportunity. He started to think about all the things they lived together, about the golden years of High School Musical, about the day they promised each other that they will going to marry. He thought about the people he dated all this years and never seemed good enough for him, and then, he thought of Alex. She didn't accepted very well the fact that Zac was breaking up with her and Zac felt that she was a true friend and deserve a true apology. He looked at his watch and saw that still got time, so he decided to go to her house. 

It was a sunny day, with a lot of traffic in the streets of LA. Zac spent almost an hour in the traffic and, tired of being there, he decided to go to the highway. Alex's house were outside the city, where there are many celebrities living to avoid all the caos and noise of Los Angeles. He then started texting Alex, letting her know that he was coming to her house. When his eyes looked up, he saw a dog standing in the middle of the road and tried to deflect the car, but he was going too fast and eventually fell over and overturned the car. 

A hour after, a few miles away, Ashley was excited with what Zac prepared and that only she, he, and Stella knew. They were trying to make Vanessa take as long as possible to prepare for the wedding, but it was getting late and Vanessa started to prepare herself. 

- Ash, the wedding is in two hours! Where the hell is Zac?!?  He said he was here before everyone arrived and before she starts to prepare herself. My sister will not have the courage to assume that she loves him when she's already in church in front of everyone, he need to get here, right now! - Stella said.

- I know, yeah! But he said he will call me when he gets here, he still got time! But, if you feel better, i will call him to see where he is. - Ashley told her.

- Do that, I will go get my phone, i bet my mom called me a thousand times already to know where am I - she laughed.

Ashley, then, called Zac to know where is he. The phone rang, and rang, and nothing. 

- Weird - she tought - i hope he didn't ran away from this!

 When she was thinking of calling him again, was interrupted by Stella, running into the room and yelling.

- ASH, ASH! OH MY GOD!

- What? What's wrong?!?

- ZAC...HE....HE..! LOOK! 

And then, she showed her all the news and photos of the accident where Zac was involved, the car was completely destroyed.

She couldn't believe, so she turned on the TV to see if it was really true.

"BREAKING NEWS - ZAC EFRON IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER CAR ACCIDENT. THE ACTOR IS BEING TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW. MORE INFORMATION FURTHER."

- OH MY GOD, THIS CAN'T BE TRUE!!!!! - Ash screamed, with her eyes filled of tears.
