Santa Carla, 1974

ELIZABETH SINCLAIR HAS ALWAYS BEEN TALKATIVE. That's been a given fact ever since the day she left her mother's womb. Elizabeth came into the world kicking and screaming, as every baby should, but Elizabeth was different. She never learned to keep her mouth closed. Elizabeth always spoke her mind, despite if it was rude or not, which would always earn her a lecture from her mother. Elizabeth always just thought she was being honest. Her mother, Madison, loved her daughter dearly. Even though she wished she would close her mouth for just a few seconds.

That was her exact thought as she walked down the boardwalk, her hand holding her daughter's. Elizabeth seemed to be jabbering on about a dream she had the night before. Speaking something about how in her dream she couldn't wear the color green because evil leprechauns would come and tickle her.
Her mother chuckled at the ridiculous dream but still found it cute in a childish way.

"Lizzy?" Her mother questioned as she tugged her daughter closer towards herself. Elizabeth instantly stopped her story to look up at her mother, her bright green eyes looking into her mother's. "Yes?"

Her mother smiled, "Are you hungry? You haven't eaten since lunch," She asked already leading her to a nearby restaurant. Elizabeth nodded, her long brown hair shaking with her head. "Okay, Mommy! But can I get ice cream, too?" She questions.
Her mother gives her a pointed look, "But you know you won't eat all of it, you need to eat some real food. Don't want you hyped up on a bunch of junk food," her mother then explains calmly. Elizabeth pouts at her mother, "But Mommy, it's my birthday!" She exclaims wildly.

Her mother rolls her eyes but smiles nonetheless and says nothing. Her eyes not meeting her daughters as they walked into a small restaurant, knowing that as soon as she did, she'd give in. They walked up to the counter and looked at the menu. "What would you like, hun?" Her mother asked, still looking at the menu. She got no response, causing her to then peak down at her daughter. Her eyes were met with the white tiled floor of the restaurant. Madison looked around frantically, searching for her daughter. However, Elizabeth was nowhere to be found.
Madison cursed at herself, she hadn't even realized that Elizabeth let go out her hand. "Elizabeth!"

Meanwhile, Elizabeth ran happily down the boardwalk, not even thinking of the dangers that could be lurking around every corner. Her black booties thudding against the wooden planks. Elizabeth was really mad at her mother, it was her birthday and all she wanted was ice cream. She knew her mother would come and find her, she always did. Elizabeth ran towards the tip of the boardwalk, the spot where you could look out at the open ocean. It was her favorite part of the boardwalk, she felt like she was actually on the edge of the world where the sky meets the sea. Her bright green eyes stared up at the night sky, gazing at the stars. She always looked to see which star was the brightest and compare them to the other stars.
