I still can't get it.
I ignored the voice, I didn't want to be blamed for another person's carelessness. She should have gotten the message by now. That I really didn't want to speak to her.
I mean what's so hard in understanding that?
I focused on the board. On the teacher's grey hairs and some hairs sticking out of his pointed nose. I could see the passion in which he spoke about nature. In biological sense. He was enjoying himself only that the enjoyment was of his own only.
I mean I don't know how teachers of our school were very good at making students fall asleep faster than any sleep induced drug.
The door opened almost immediately the teacher noticed that his students were not participating apart from me though. I had already promised mom too.
A tall boy entered our class and immediately the class started cheering. He was wearing our school uniform and slinged on his bag on one hand.
Ugh. What the fudge was he doing here?!
Gaius stood in front of the class with a big smile on his face. He didn't look like the intimated boy I had once known. In fact he looked intimidating and huge.
"Mr Pete, I was informed that this was the Art class that also offered agriculture. He spoke to teacher
"You're late, my boy but it sure is..Classmates, this is your new student who is a transfer." He introduced Gaius and gave him a part on the back.
There was a very empty seat next to mine. And I dreaded it. If Gaius came to sit next to mine....I would disappear right there.
Gaius found his way easily and sat down beside a girl who had been announcing she had a free seat since she saw hottie enter.
She was one of those girls that hated my guts and had a crew of stupid people. I wouldn't call a queen just a command freak.
She pushed a minion of hers and declared the sit free.I smirked as I watched Gaius sit next to her.I should be allowed to enjoy the last days of Bermusa.
The class also had focused on the new boy and I was surprised he wasn't cowering away he was enjoying the attention and causing so many giggles from air head girls.
"I know right now that you're probably cussing every living being giving attention to You know Who." She whispered in my ear.
I released the frown I didn't know I had and smiled at her accuracy. She could read me like a book that's why we were besties.
"I am not really...maybe I am just surprised that he really came back."
We wandered down the halls during break and I asked her if she still wanted to be with her boyfriend but she shrugged and made me continue telling her about Gaius.
"I met him earlier yesterday in the halls after we spoke to the Principal."
"And you shooed him away."
I smiled satisfyingly at her.
Then she started shaking her head and shaking me.
"Gina!!! You're really a stupid girl like I thought it was a little side effect from you know your madness but...
"What? What? What have I done?..Don't tell me you want me to hear him out?!" I raised my voice a little than intended.
She had stopped speaking and was pinching me.
What's with this weird behaviour, Mrs Weird?
Look back.
I turned to look at what attracted her attention. At the end of the room, Gaius was leaning close to Ifeoma and they were kissing each other like maniacs who needed each other's oxygen.
"Ow. Gina!"She released her hand from my firm grip I didn't know I was hurting her. She also had a worried expression on her face.
I felt so many emotions then and there. Betrayal of seven years ago, anger and frustration and sadness mixed to destroy any feelings I had left.
I didnt know I still had it in me.
I felt fingers deep in my skin and I was immediately drawn out of my trance.
Folake was pulling me in the opposite direction, she knew I was capable of doing something stupid.
Well, these were my last days of Bermusa. I could atleast express my frustration.
I mean he just got here.
I headed towards Gaius looking no where but his face was stuck to disgusting robust Igbo girl that was sucking his face off.
I dragged his arm and channelled all my frustration and anger into a punch then I threw it at his face.
Everyone attention was fixed on us then. Gaius was not too surprised and he was looking at me as if he was amused. He licked his lips and winked at her.
Ifeoma was screaming her head off and was cussing in Igbo language.
"Onyara! How could you hit him like that you byotch!
The boys were hailing and making unnecessary comments. A hand trailed my waist and pulled me closer to a firm body. I looked up at Gaius with bewilderment.
I gave him a are you mad? look.
He gave an innocent pout and shouted to the crowd.
"My girlfriend here is jealous of Ifeoma, I can handle her now."
I struggled out of his grip and he pulled me out of the halls. I was fuming but I settle in his arms since I couldn't remove his firm grip off me.
The boys kept hailing but the crowd began to disperse.
I stepped on his leg and he got distracted and loosened his grip setting me free. I moved back a little
I stood and stared at his stupid face.
"What were you tryna proof?" I demanded.
"That you are a jealous girlfriend who hasn't seen her boyfriend for seven years." He shrugged.
"Do you think this is funny-"
"I never said it was." He dead panned.
" But-
"You were never ready to hear me out Ginny,
I scoffed at the nickname. There was no Ginny here again. Ginny and Gaius were long gone. Here stood two teenagers who couldn't stand the sight of the other. Atleast one of them.
"Don't think I am a fool, I saw the letter you left in the mail box." He looked at me, his eyes tearing up a bit.
"Grandma said she didn't see any post.."I whispered to myself forgetting he was there for a second.
That was like ages ago. But I still remembered the old nanny that worked in Gaius's house. She was pretty and had grey hair that was always tied in a bun, she always beamed when she saw me and called me that.
Ginny.
