Wonderland

A piece of shit

In the school's park,

I sat down munching on a donut like my life depended on it , trying to ignore the wave of past occurrences blowing in mind; especially this morning's.

I would take it as an advantage and try and be a better person. That thought didn't even help like it would have. " Try to make the best of all situations. How was I to do that now? The words she spilled were still banging in my head  and I could still feel the violent shaking of her hand on my chin.

" Your dad "

.......took out another loan. "

She had told me trying to wrap her head around in a silly smile. Or maybe without her voice breaking. I wasn't good in telling emotions.

My first instinct was to laugh. Laugh at the fear stricken emotions on her face or how serious she seemed it to be. Then reality came hitting me. My school. His promise to mom. The consequences.

Shit. Damn. Dad. Stupid.

  According to mom when dad came home drunk the day I was out, he crawled up in a corner and told her the news in a sullen voice. She of course screamed on the top of her voice like any normal mother would in the situation. He didn't stop her just left in drunken steps for his bed.

Can't there not be more trouble?

Why is everything coming down like a rain of bullets when they were all settled before.

I felt a new presence behind. Scent unfamiliar or forgotten. I kept my head bent which I didn't realize. My body movement became rigid when I knew someone was watching me in an unguarded moment.

I turned my head and the person wasn't watching me. His head was turned in the opposite direction and he was drinking my favourite Coca- Cola drink. I watched in horror as my drink became smaller by each gulp he made.    

" Wrong move, mate. "

My hands were already curled up in fists as I waited for him to be done. He finished it and the audacity of that baboon had the nerve to smile. Familiar eyes met mine and I immediately snickered. OLD GAIUS.

I grabbed him by the collar and he didn't even flinch at my sudden movement.  His eyes showed hint of amusement in them.

"You find this funny, don't you? "

" Why not? When a girl is trying her best to get my attention. "

" How? " I said a bit confused.

He looked at my hands that were touching his face a smirk forming on his face.

I didn't remove what he deemed as disturbance and I looked at him like I wished him dead. How could he? It made my anger boil and rise...

"Hey,hey, hey.." He started saying when he saw the serious look on my face.

"I was trying to drag your attention back to planet Earth. I seriously mean no harm! " handling back the half finished drink.

I collected it with clammy hands and a sob escaped me.

Hahaha. Gaius...I know this has always been your weakness.

Another sob escaped me and I now had my hands over my eyes. I took a peek at Gaius and saw his face in complete horror. He looked absolutely miserable....so this still worked
Gotcha!

I felt hands touch me from behind. It was warm and disturbingly soft. It distracted me a second in my act.

"S-stop crr..crying, I didn't know it would hurt you so much.

My sobs became louder as I thought about the past incidents. Wow.  I am a born actress. I heard a gasp behind me then sighing as little strokes of moved comforted my feigned act.

I raised up my head and Gaius met mine with questioning eyes. I  decided to cut the play and sniffed my tears. All these while the hands were still placed on my back.

...

I busted into a fit of laughter. Not minding the crowd I might have gathered due to my act. I looked at his face and I saw a let down of his emotions . The Gaius who was forever scared of making a lady cry was staring at me like I was the worst person on the planet. Then it hid in a mask of a smile. He got up and the warm feeling on my back disappearing, he patted my hand instead and said.

" Well played, mate."

I started by picking up my bags and the drink I had lost interested was  dumped in my bag. Folake was standing waiting for me and I assumed she had seen my exchange with Gaius judging from the look on her face.

"Has anybody ever told you how bitchy you are? "
She said hitting my shoulder Gaius just patted.

I rubbed it and gave her a glaring look.

"I've been told.... I reached out for my note in my knapsack.

" Exactly two thousand times and besides he was being such a drama king when he saw me cry and you know you know! That I can  never miss out on  things like that. "

She still looked at me like  I was a weirdo from planet pervert.

" I really thought you were hurting. " I heard a voice whisper I looked at the source of the voice and saw a group of curious juniors .

Shit.

They were all staring at me. I gave them the eye and they were on their heels.
