Taylor's POV

"Do you prefer sunrises or sunsets?" I ask. Joe and I are sitting on a rooftop, drinking beer out of plastic cups, staring at the sunset in New York City on a Wednesday night in late September.

"I think sunrises, because they signify that, no matter how shitty your life is at that moment, the world would still move on and each new day could be a new beginning," he replies. "What about you?"

"I love watching sunsets," I take a sip of beer. "You could see the transition from day to night and from our hectic lives to a time of peacefulness and rest. That, and they're so much prettier than sunrises and I've always found them so romantic," those last few words slip off of my tongue before I can stop myself.

"You trying to make a move on me, Tay?" Joe teases me, laughing.

I playfully hit his arm, also laughing, "In your dreams, you idiot." (A/N: which is exactly what she thought when she read our 5 holes in the fence theory thing)

After calming down, we return our gazes to the beautiful and mesmerising sunset Mother Nature has painted with her fine brush. Broad, bold strokes of orange mingle with various shades of blue, ranging from light blue to sapphire. A silence fills the air as we both admire the stunning scene in front of us, but it isn't the awkward, tense silence that I hate. It's actually quite the opposite—instead, it's a comfortable, content silence.

~~~ (A/N: yeah I need a slight time skip because idk what to write)
The sky is now a shade of royal blue. Because of the bright lights of the busy New York City below us, barely any stars can be seen in the sky.
"You know, it has always amazed me how New York seems to always be buzzing with excitement and energy, like something is always happening, no matter what time of day it is. And the fact that it can maintain this kind of energy is incredible. I think that's the biggest thing that drew me here—when you walk in the streets of New York, you feel like you're part of the action, part of the excitement. You get that sense of power and that adrenaline you can't get anywhere else," I start ranting. Our conversations mostly start with me ranting on about something completely random and us adding onto it and then that topic leading to another and so on, and quite an interesting conversation followed that rant of mine.
"I feel the same way too! But one of the downsides of New York is that, because it's always so busy, if you're having a bad day, the noise and fast pace of New York isn't exactly the best for you."
"That's what Nashville and Rhode Island are for," I feel the corners of my lips turn up, "It's so much more slow-paced in Nashville and Rhode Island and it really helps to relax and calm me."
After a short pause, Joe says, mirroring the smile on my face, "I think you will really like London once you explore it more. You get the feeling of being in a city, but it's not as busy and energetic as New York. And the paparazzi there is less...aggressive."
"Can you maybe take me around London sometime?" I blurt out those words without thinking, which is quite unusual for me as, over the years, I have trained myself to think before I say or do anything to avoid the media having a field day over me. There is a moment of silence as we both process what I just said. Goddammit Taylor, you just ruined a perfectly good friendship. "I didn't mean it that way, sorry if that came out weird or anythi-"
