Anniversary

Today is Wednesday the day before valentines day, aka my birthday. As far as I know no one knows about my birthday and I'm kinda glad about that. I pulled my covers off and slid off my bed. I'm not happy for school, but when am I?

I run into my bathroom taking a shower, brushing my teeth, you know the usual. I remember a certain detail that happened tmw that suddenly got me cheery.

I walk out of my bathroom looking at my alarm.

7:05am

I walk out of my room smiling mischievously. Yesterday AJ's mom had a "emergency" so she dropped him off at 12am.

We most likely won't see her for another couple months. Which is why I hate her. She isn't giving AJ a stable life. Either stay in his life or don't he's better off either way, but it will take a toll on him if she's in and out.

I shake the negative thoughts out as a slowly creep into AJ's bedroom. I hear mumbles coming from his mouth like "shut up" or "you didn't get first last time" which tells me he's sleep talking, and that also tells me he's in a deep sleep.

The best sleep is the deep sleep and the best type of sleep for people to ruin so easily. I grab his alarm clock and set it to 7:07 and set it right by his ear.

*RINGGGGG* *RINGGGGG*

"I DIDNT MEAN TO EAT YOUR FRYS!" AJ screams falling out of his bed. I on the other hand fell on my ass from laughing too hard.

"I- wha- ...you suck clem. Like really, no joke suck. It's not even funny." AJ deadpans which only makes me laugh harder.

AJ is probably the most sarcastic person I know, other than Violet, and his facial expressions are always priceless.

I eventually stop laughing and by then AJ has already brushed his teeth and stood infront of me...while i'm still on the floor.

"Why hello brother." I say smugly still chuckling from the previous event. I stand up wiping the germs from the floor off my pajamas.

"Hello satan. Get out." He says pointing to the door. I pout.

"What about my morning hug? Your not old enough to get out of that buddy. PLUS, I haven't seen you in like 2 months?" I say holding out my arms.

"I'm twelve. Now, your highness needs to change," he starts, while leading me out of the room, "have fun at school see you later." Then slams the door in my face.

Well. There goes your dinner mister "i'm twelve i'm a man"

"I HEARD THAT!"

shit. I really need to work on that.

"NO YOU DIDN'T" I yell back walking into my room ready to get changed.

"So clem, when were you going to tell me that your birthday is tomorrow?" Vi asks walking into the school building.

I stop in my tracks.

how did she know?

"I saw your calendar. Pretty cool having your birthday on Valentine's day. It oddly suits you. Clementine...Valentine." She shrugs, normally I would've thought she'd yell at me or something.

"Yeah....just um..don't-" I start but i'm cut off when we reach the group.

"Hey guys did you know Clem's Birthday is tomorrow?" Vi asks giving me a grin, she knows what she's doing.

"No way!"

"WHAT? WHY DIDNT YOU TELL US?"

"That's so cool it's like double the presents only double...chocolate.."

Soon everyone starts talking about the party, who's going, what they should get me it all got too much to take. I wanted to scream but I just turned around and walked away.

I know Violet thought she was helping and I was just being antisocial, but there's more to it. It's not just about how my dad won't be here, but there was a reason why we always spent the day together.

Yeah it was my birthday.

It was also the anniversary of my mother's death.
