A Name (8 Months)

"What do you wanna name him?" I ask my beautiful wife.

"Ethan." She replies without hesitation.

"After your brother?" I ask. She nods. "You've never told me. You don't have to if you don't want to."

"I should. We should know everything about each other. Especially if this is the name we choose." She tells me.

"Okay." I say. She takes a deep breath.

"In my sophomore year, more so the summer before sophomore year. My father and my step-mom were expecting. One day I got a text from him, not a call, a text saying that my step-mom went into early labor at 21 weeks. He had no chance at survival. Everyone, my sister, my father and my step-mom got to hold him except me." She said. Her eyes were getting watery and I can hear the strain in her voice. "His name was Ethan James Singley. He never stood a chance." I pull her close to my chest.

"Angel, I love you."

"I love you too." She whispers.
