Yato dropped himself on the cheap motel bed, crossing his arms behind his head. He knew he didn't have enough money to stay for long, but he had hoped the person he was running away from won't find him here. Catching his breath, he sat down and turned to his right to stare at the moon pass the cracked window.
He sighed, and was about to close his eyes when a loud thud came from outside his door. Yato suddenly stood up in a lightning speed, raising both arms to prepare for a fight. The doorknob moved, and the door opened slowly. Yato, both awed and confused, raised his voice, "This is my room, you moron! Find some crappy street corner if you can't afford your own."
"You're the only god who can stomach living in this place," a familiar voice answered, causing the calamity god to gasp.
"Kazuma?" Yato asked just as the owner of the name he called entered the room and closed the door. "What are you doing here? How did you find me? Did you put a-?"
"Please, quiet down, Yato," Kazuma cut him off, loosening the tie on his neck, "You know why I'm here." And he stared straight at Yato's dark eyes.
The blue-eyed god could only shake his head, "No, I won't do it, Kazuma. How did you even know where to find me?"
Kazuma shrugged, walking closer to Yato, "The Sorcerer is wreaking havoc, and all you worry about is finding a forsaken soul who may or may not be of use to you. Name me, Yato, and I'll show you how we can win this."
Yato scoffed, crossing his arms together, "It's not that easy, you know? Just who do you think who's wielding who? The last soul I tried naming ended up becoming a scissor, you know?"
Kazuma stood a few inches before Yato, and mirrored the god with a sneer, "For a god of calamity, you sure don't know how to wage battles. My resolve is strong, Yato. This is the only way we can save those we love."
"Love?" Yato whispers, glancing down at Kazuma's chest before looking back at the shinki's serious face. With a clearer voice, he asks, "What made you think I was willing to kill the Ma clan all those years ago?"
This sends Kazuma wavering as he answered, "I was told you killed for fun, so I took my chances."
Yato reaches for Kazuma, but pulls back his arm, "Is that what you think of me, then? That I would give you a name and use you as a tool to kill the enemy? Use you for fun?"
Kazuma whipped his head up, shaking in stunned surprise, "No, of course not. We've known each other for so long now, did you really think I'd do everything I did for you out of fear? I know you're better than that. Your passion for good is why I chose to be here, Yato. I will be useful to you." He takes another step closer.
"Stop," Yato pleads, knowing he will be backed into a corner soon if he doesn't stop this. He glanced behind him and realized he might be literally be backed on the wall first, unless he does somehing. "I could have killed you back then, you know. I took all the blame against the goddess of war, for you. Kazu, please, don't tempt me." In his eyes was a plea bereft of the calamity that he was.
Kazuma took the god's hand in his, an act that both shocked them but the shinki continued, "It's my choice, Yato. Use me," his lips curve to a small smile, softening his features, "To save my master, to free you from your chains, to end this chaos that's plaguing us all."
Staring at both their hands awakened something in Yato. He freed Kazuma's hold on him and moved further into a corner with hasty steps. He didn't know how else to stop this. "I don't you want you to be a Nora!"
"And you'll sacrifice our world for that!?" Kazuma answered back in desperation.
Yato looked at the purest green eyes he had ever seen in all his wretched existence, and softly answered, "Yes. Everyone will scorn you. You are more than you give yourself credit for. You're a Blessed Regalia, Kazuma."
