Chapter 2
"Hey, hey, hey. Where did you disappear to last night?" Kate, my roommate asked as I closed the door behind me. "You like disappeared."
"I.. Went home with someone." I mumbled. Kate rolled her eyes. You see, Kate was basically a saint. She's a virgin, doesn't drink alcohol, hates the clubbing scene and swears she will be a virgin until marriage. Oh wait, she doesn't swear. Promises.
"Are you going to see him again?" She questioned. I hate this part. She will question the shit out of me and make me feel like a total slut and give me that look - the look to say that I'm a slut. I love her, but not this part of her.
"No." I mumbled, pouring myself a glass of water and swallowing some pain killers. I could feel her eyes on me. Just wait for it. Soon she will disappear into her bedroom then return a few minutes later in a black cloak, with a bible in hand, and a candle in the other. She'd place the candle down on the kitchen counter and throw holy water at me while repeating 'the power of Christ compels you.'
But in reality all she did was look at me with sadness, give my shoulder a squeeze and walk away. It's difficult living with a nun. Letting out a heavy sigh, I put my cup in the sink and headed off to the bathroom to have a shower. After washing off all the regret and shame I hopped out of the shower and got dressed.
The city of New York carried on as busy as it usually is. Nothing had changed in the last twelve hours which I was always thankful for after a night like last night. Hailing a cab, I told the driver where to go and ended up at a shopping mall. Retail therapy always worked. I sat myself down at a coffee shop and ordered myself a caramel frappe. Pulling my phone out I decided to text my best friend, Chloe, to see if she wants to come into the city. She immediately replied that she was already nearby and would meet up with me.
"Let's never have a repeat of last night ever again." Chloe said, rather loudly, as she pulled out a chair and sat down at the table with me. "That was just horrible. This guy didn't even know what he was doing. I think he was a virgin. He was so awkward and I'm pretty sure he was raised by your roommate by the little amount of stuff he DID know."
"Hey, leave Kate out of this. Some of us have to be innocent. Otherwise there would be no religion. No god saying 'thou shalt wait till marriage-eth.' It's just not as fun without them. There's no rule to break against it."
"You do have a point..." Chloe trailed off, tapping her index finger against her chin. "Anyways. You totally have to help me choose a dress for tonight." I stared at her in shock.
"You can't be serious. You drank three times as much as I did and you want to go do that again?! And you just said like two minutes ago that you never want to do that again!" She smiled and shrugged her shoulders.
"But this is different. This is a follow up."
"You're seeing him again?" She smiled while grabbing my hand and dragging me to the closest store.
Two hours. Two hours of torture. Two hours of my time I could have used to sleep. Two hours of watching Chloe try on dresses that look more like belts and asking me how she looks. Apparently "You may as well wear nothing if you're going to spend your money on that piece of shit" was not the right answer. She got the shits with me and left me alone in the store while she tried on dresses and refused to hear my opinion.
A while later she came out in a skin coloured dress that really showed off her large rack, and emphasised the curve of her butt, oh and her underwear. "I think this is the one." She said with a huge smile on her face.
"Oh I see the style you're going for." I said with a smile on my face.
"You do?" She questioned, raising her eyebrow at me.
"Yeah. The naked look." I laughed and her facial features Immediately changed to anger as she flipped her jet black hair and walked away from me.
Rolling my eyes I turned around and looked at all the people in the mall. Lots of teenagers gathering around, texting people, fangirling over something, or gossiping. I miss those days. Next there were the mums with strollers next to them that carried their sleeping children while they ate lunch. There were dozens of business men and women carrying briefcases, hurrying along to get to their next meeting or buy some lunch. Next was a group of guys, they look like druggos. Covered in ink, metal through their; ears, noses, lips, eyebrows, tongues and just about any other place you can think of. I admired them for a moment. They had a certain beauty to them. The complete rebellion to be different from society, the confidence to be who they want to be.
But what I wasn't expecting to be in that group, was a familiar face. Him.The boy from last night. So much for he "had to work." But what worried me more was that he was staring right at me.
