Ink lied restlessly on his back for what felt like hours, the hot blood still leaking from the wound Error had given him just under his eye. He drew his hand anxiously over the other; they were cold, and still shaking in grief. The artist shut his sockets. He imagined electric blues and swirling ripples of red weaving through each other, sparks of yellow and greens would fleck the blank area, along with waves of orange threading through each bright hue. Colours would usually cheer Ink up, but this time, the sadness was inevitable. He was stuck in the stiff state of mind. Nothing seemed worth it anymore. Error was successful and Ink couldn't push away the thought that he would rather die with his blood on the Destroyer's hands than stay here, all alone, forever. The combs of grass beneath the Protector's body bristling, making him shudder. There was a blow of could air flowing through the Doodle sphere; Ink barely took notice of it.  And so, the artist stayed there, firm in place, in intent to die, no intent to live.

After hours, Ink opened his eyes, which were glittering with tears, and thrust upwards, so he was in a lazy sitting position and gazed down at the paper strewn across the ground surrounding him. He flicked the closes pages away with a flicker of his wrist. Hot fury clattered with his sadness and he lunged onto his feet, huffing.

"It's not fair." He growled through gritting teeth, "He can't be successful."

The sudden anger was overwhelming and Ink swept the pages and pages of AUs from his little floating island and stood at the edge. He glared with eyes sparking into a scarlet into the distance. His breaths were quick. Soon, though, another thought churned in his mind: Dreamtale. Nightmare and Dream guarded that apple tree, one could say they were protectors... The fury trapped in Ink's heart flitted almost joyfully. If he couldn't be the protector of the AUs anymore, then why did the brothers? He had to do something about that... Something different.  The artist flicked his copper and cherry red eyes away from the blank view. He clicked his fingers and instead of the doodle sphere, what was facing him was the portal to Dreamtale...
