"Da-da!" My daughter happily spits out her first words
"Yes baby, I'm right here." Peter says softly as tears prick his eyes, not wanting to let go of the moment.
Today is the five year anniversary of our wedding, so we decided to celebrate by not celebrating at all. Living peacefully in our suburban home, away from anyone who could disturb us, with our daughter, (d/n), is the only way we could think of something that could relax us both.
"Did she just say da-da? Awe baby girl, I'm so proud of you!" I cried happily, holding on to the people I love the most.
*knock* *knock*
I stare at peter, quizzically, wondering who should be here at this time of night.
"Are you... expecting somebody?" I ask warily.
He shook his head a firm "no", staring at the draw where our web-slingers are.
"Darling, take (d/n) upstairs, I'm going to answer the door." I say, still staring at the mahogany wood that was protecting us from whatever lay outside.
Peter grabbed (d/n), quickly and carefully, and brought her upstairs.

*knock* *knock*

Grabbing my web-slinger, i carefully tip-toe over to the door. It was 8:35pm, in the middle of no where.

"Ha!"
I exclaim, slinging the door wide open to reveal Miles, with both hands in the air.
"Oh, jeez, Miles! You scared me!"
"I scared you?" He laughed.
I open the door wider, inviting him inside our safe haven.
"What do you need? Are you alright?"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. Well, I am, but..." he trailed off.
"Wha-what do you mean? Is something wrong?"
"Not yet. We need you and peter. The portal, well, portals, are opening up all over the world and nobody knows why."
I sigh, grabbing the keys to locked cabinet where we keep our costumes.
"Peter! Call (f/n) to watch (d/n)!" I shout up the stairs.
He comes to the top, (d/n) in his arms.
I reach the keys out to where they would be visible for him.

"We have some unfinished business."
