What's That Smell?
It was great to be home. Lizzo threw her bag on the queen sized bed and followed along after it. The room was bohemian chic, just like Kehlani. She was an earthly type. Always looking for alternative medicines, incense lit all around the house, and always aligning her chakras. Liz admired Lani's optimistic outlook on life. She always kept a level head and avoided confrontation. Where as though Lizzo loved a good fight or argument.
She decided to stay with Kehlani instead of her mother because she did not need her mom breathing down her neck all the time. Asking questions about college and her love life. Cause her mother was nosy as fuck. She wouldn't stop until she got the real truth. Nah, she was good on that.
The incense in the room definitely soothed her. After getting out of the hospital they went out to the shop that took in her car and retrieved whatever she could. Most of her things were still intact, except for her favorite perfume and a couple of pictures. Her phone? Done for. Now she had to go to AT&T to get a replacement which would cost a little bit of money. Good thing she was also going job hunting. Couldn't be out here with empty pockets.
Her breathing slowed; the smell in the room was actually relaxing her and she accidentally drifted off to sleep. Her subconscious brought back the night of the crash. It only came in flashes and never in order. She was hanging upside down with smoke surrounding her eyesight and clouding her lungs. Glass was crunching around her beneath someone or something's footsteps. Now she was driving again swerving away from the blurred figure running across the street. Suddenly she was somewhere she didn't remember. Her body felt like it was floating. It swayed side to side, but not on its own. That's when she felt it. Something in her churned with awareness and unknown fingers gripped her in their grasp. She was being carried!
Someone shook her awake and she jumped up ready for whatever. She took a calming breath noticing it was just Kehlani. She probably looked like a maniac ready to fight her best friend for waking her up.
"Calm down, its just me. You were asleep. You okay?" She asked.
"Um, yeah. I'm good."
"Sure?"
"Yep."
She didn't believe her though. She had come to check on her girl and found her grunting and moaning in her sleep. At first she just watched, trying to figure out if it was serious enough for her to intervene, but then she got louder and started thrashing around. Kehlani was worried about her friend. She did not seem okay. Ever since the hospital there were times where they would see her drift off into her own world, then brush it off whenever they asked what happened. She didn't like it. And something was wrong, but she would wait until Lizzo was ready to talk about it.
"Ok, well Belly said she got a job for you where she work." Kehlani said.
"Strippin'? Hmm, I would need to practice my moves. And I would need to work out my arms since I don't have good upper body strength."
"Girl, shut up. Not strippin', a bottle bitch."
"Ooooh, I like that too."
Although she wouldn't have minded stripping, being a bottle girl was better. She didn't know if she would be able to swing on a pole and wear super dumb high heels all night. She's seen what the bottle girls wear at that club and she could definitely pull that look off.
"Do I have to go for an interview?"
"Nah. She cool with the nigga that manages the club. Chris Black or some shit. She dropped that sympathy card hard with the crash story."
