Home Sweet Home?
Lizzo walked into her room feeling a little empty. Throwing her keys on the table next to the door she made her way in shutting it behind her. She dropped her bags right there before flopping onto the couch. Yesterday her car was miraculously parked in front of Lani's house looking brand spanking new. They called Belly over to help her repack and to say their teary goodbyes.
Right here in this moment she felt homesick already. She wanted to go back so badly. When she left the first time she didn't feel homesick until her first test. She was so nervous and stressed she called the girls and her mother for a week straight. But once her results came back - a passing grade obviously - she felt better and settled in nicely. But now? It was like there was an invisible force pulling on her to return back home. It made her stomach queasy.
She got off the couch heading for the kitchen. She's been driving for hours with only pretzels and Mountain Dew to keep her satiated. She pulled out some random ingredients and began whipping something together. She didn't know what she was making until she actually put the pans into the oven. Cupcakes it is.
She was cleaning up here mess when her phone rang. Quickly drying her hands she pulled her phone out of her pocket and smiled. Pressing the answer key she held the phone up to her ear.
"Hey." She answered.
"How you doin', ma?" Dave asked her. He always sounded like he just woke up and she loved it.
"I'm good. A little homesick so I made 30 cupcakes."
"Damn. Who gon eat all that?"
"I don't know. I might just give them away."
"Shit, send'em to me."
"You lucky I got the right packagin' to keep them nice and fresh."
"That dinner the other night was right. Can't wait to see what your sweets taste like." She didnt need to see him to know that he was wearing a giant smirk on his face.
"I gotchu."
"How was the ride though? She smooth like butter?"
"Yeah. Better than she was even before the accident."
"Good. I paid good money for that."
"Wait, you got my car fixed so fast?" She should've known. She was gonna stay longer because it was beginning to be very pricy to fix her baby. SHe needed the tips from the club to get her back but then BOOM! Her car was fixed and she was on the road. She only knew a few who had money like that.
"Yeah. Seemed like you really wanted to get back to school, so I helped you out."
"Thank you Dave. I appreciate that."
"Ain't shit, ma."
They talked on the phone for a few more hours about anything they could. When she started yawning was when the phone call finally ended. She didn't want it to, though. She wanted to keep talking to him until she fell asleep, but she didn't wanna be that kinda girl. SO she let him get back to his business while she took a nap.
She didn't know how long she was asleep for before a loud knock woke her up. Groaning she threw the covers off and stomped to answer the door. She must've been hella tired cause she slept in her jeans. When she opened the door she rolled her eyes. Of course he would be here. He was the only one who would.
