The tram arrived back at the housing district and it was already dark. Most people where back in there houses already. The tram was automated so there wasn't a conductor. The doors opened and I shrugged Jessica awake. She was tired, extremely tired. Her eyes struggled to stay open for as far as I could tell. I looked at her and she tried to fall back asleep on my shoulder. There was a street lamp, it was dimly lit. The lamp was shining through the tram windows and the rays where on Jessica's face.
"Hey, hey you got to get up" I said nudging her. She moaned as if telling me to screw off. I smiled and got up off the seat. I picked her up and carried her off the tram. The street was dimly lit, no houses had any lights on. I couldn't see any soldiers in the area. I walked with her still in my arms down the street and to my house. I unlocked the door and walked inside. I kicked the door shut silently behind me and laid Jessica down on the couch. I walked over to the recliner and sat down in it. I was comfortable laying there looking at her. My eyes closed and I fell asleep within the next minute.
When I awoke Jessica was still asleep on the couch. I got up out of the recliner and rubbed my face trying to wake up. The sun was shining through the curtains that where posted on the windows. The light rays create a interesting design along the carpet floor. I walked into the kitchen feeling the cold tile floor on my feet. I don't remember taking off my shoes but I guess I did. The cabinet was left open from the night before and I could see a cereal box. I reached up and pulled it out. The box read "Captan Spares Fruity Pops." I couldn't even remember where I got this cereal at either. "Oh we'll" I said to myself as I grabbed a bowl and put the dry cereal into it. The cereal looked like a rainbow, a bunch of different colors filled the bowl.
I opened the fridge and put milk into the bowl. The sound of the milk hitting the bowl somewhat pleased me, I didn't know why but it did. The house was quiet after I put the milk up, I couldn't even hear people outside. I found this to be weird but disregarded it. I grabbed a spoon and began to devour the cereal like a black hole eating a entire planet. Once I was done I just threw the bowl and spoon into the sink like trash. Outside the back door I could see blue skies without a lot of cloud cover. A beautiful day to get outside and do something productive. Instead I had to go and get another injection for my hallucinations. I put my shoes back on and opened the door that lead to the outside. I looked back at Jessica who was still asleep. A smile formed on my face as I closed the door.
There was a nice breeze outside, I could see the trees leaves flowing like waves in the ocean. I took a deep breath and began my way to the hospital. Time must of passed quickly because before I knew it I was standing in front of the half done painted door. I pushed them open and felt the AC hit me like a meteor. They must of turned the temp astute down because I was extremely cold. The receptionist wasn't there today, that's the second day in a row? I've never seen her miss a day of work, this was extremely strange to me.
I walked through the lobby which was more barren than the broken world. I walked over to the elevator and pressed the button which lit up blue as it always does. It rang and the doors opened. Inside was the older man who always seemed to be there when I was in the area. I tried not to make contact as I pushed the third floor button and leaned up against the back wall. The man didn't make eye contact as well. The elevator door opened on the second floor and he walked out into the same room he always did. This bugged me to an extreme measure. I was going to tail him.
As he got down the hall I hit the close door button on the elevator to make it seem as if I went on with my life. There where boxes scattered in the hallway that provided cover. He looked back every now and then just to make sure no one was following him I guess. Every time he would turn back around and continue on down the hall I moved up to the next box intensively. He turned a corner and proceeded through a door marked "classified." As he closed the door behind him I quickly made my way to the door. It was a brown wooden door with a metal frame. He didn't lock the door because I could turn the knob. As I opened the room I could make out it was just a small storage closet. Why would they keep a storage closet titled as classified?
