Chapter 17

Freya P.O.V.

“Haaaaappppy biiiiirthday Callllum!” I sung, bounding into Calum and Luke’s room, waking them both up.

“Shhhhhh” Luke mumbled rolling over and covering himself in his duvet.

“Caaaaluuuum” I whined as he put the pillow over his head. “At least come and see the surprise we have downstairs for you” i pouted.

“Is it a good surprise or something you say is a good surprise but isn’t?” I faintly heard him under the pillow.

“Well I think it’s a fantastic surprise and if you don’t get up now to see it then we will have to just get rid of it” I shrugged. “Up to you.”

“I’ll come see it, but if it isn’t worth me getting out of bed i will smack you with a pillow before i go back to bed” he said, getting out of bed.

“Deal.” I quickly grabbed one of Luke’s hoody’s before going downstairs, shortly followed by Calum, and then a very tired Luke. “It’s on the coffee table” I pointed over to Ashton who was sat at the coffee table with a laptop.

“That’s Ashton’s laptop” Calum said “I’m going back to bed.”

“One second birthday boy” I replied to him, “Ash, turn the laptop around.”

Ashton turned the laptop around to face Calum until he saw what, or should i say who, was on the screen. His family. “Happy Birthday son!” Joy grinned, you couldn’t wipe the smile off of Calum’s face. He rushed over to where Ashton was.

“How long have you guys been planning this?” Luke asked in his sleepy morning voice, wrapping his arms around me from behind and resting his chin on my shoulder.

“A couple days” I informed him. I looked over to Calum, seeing him talking to his parents excitedly about what was happening back in Australia and what he’d been up to.

“Does it make you miss your family?” Luke asked.

“Not really, because my family is here with you guys” I said sheepishly.

“Aww” Luke cooed, kissing my cheek.

“I do miss my Aunt though.”

“You spoken to her recently?” He asked, sitting on the sofa and pulling me down with him.

“We skyped the other day” I told him. “Apparently her and Jeff are getting a bit serious” I giggled.

“I so called it” he laughed.

“You are such a dork” I replied, giving him a peck. “But apparently my parents are trying to come up with reasons why I should move back to Melbourne.” I informed him “‘Most of her families here’, ‘all her friends are here’, ‘she didn’t want to go to Sydney anyway’” I said, impersonating my parents monotone voices.

“You didn’t want to come to Sydney?” Luke asked shocked.

 

“Of course i did! The further away I got from my parents, the better” I replied, “plus if i stuck around in Melbourne i wouldn’t have met you.” This just made Luke grin from ear to ear.

I looked over to the birthday boy; you couldn’t wipe the massive grin off his face. I really hoped it was a nice surprise for him. Ashton sat opposite Calum, watching as he explained to his parents about the new songs they were writing and how excited he was for them to hear it.

“What’s with all the noise?” I heard a tired Sophie ask as she walked downstairs.

“Calum’s on skype to his parents” Luke replied.
