Chapter 1 - Boy next door

I was in the living room, watching some tv when was a knock on the door and I froze, thinking it would be Steve, my boyfriend. We were in an argument at the moment and I couldn't face him.

"Elodie? Can you get the door please?" Mum called from the kitchen. I hadn't told her what had been going on between Steve and I so if it was him I'd have to act normal.

I opened the door and standing there was a boy who looked like a hot version of all the members of all
my favourite bands merged together. He had spiky black hair, tattoos, eyeliner and was wearing black skinny jeans and a ripped falling in reverse band t shirt.

"Hey there, I moved in next door a couple of weeks ago but I've been really busy and haven't had a chance to introduce myself yet, so I thought I'd do it now. I'm Remington."

He stuck out his hand and grinned at me but I was too shy to move. His smile faltered and I regained my senses.

"Sorry! Yes - I'm Elodie. Please come in."

He grinned again and took his shoes off before entering. I called Mum and Ryan and smiled at Remington who was still grinning at me. I couldn't help but blush at the way he was looking at me.

"Hi, sweetheart I'm Carol, lovely to meet you. Three of you moved in next door didn't you? Or do my eyes deceive me?" my mum asked.

"No, you're right, Mrs-"

"Richards, love."

"Mrs Richards. They're my brothers.    I'm Remington. Emerson and Sebastian are out at the moment but I'm sure you'll see them see around at some point soon."

Ryan came downstairs and Remington shook his hand straight away.

"What's up man, I'm Remington, I've just moved in next door with my brothers."

Mum made us all some tea and we chatted for a bit. Remington was really polite and charming and I couldn't get over his good looks and     quirky style.

"Yo which one of you listens to punk?" he asked suddenly.

"I told you your music was too loud, Elodie!" Mum scolded, bringing the tea in for us.

"No don't worry, I was gonna say you have good taste," Remington winked.
"I play in a punk band myself."

"Oh wow! What do you play?"

"Well, I say play - I'm the lead singer. My older brother Sebastian plays guitar and Emerson plays drums but we don't have a bass player so some of our songs are incomplete."

I loved punk music and Remington was just going up and up in my opinion.

"Well Elodie plays bass," Mum said.

"Well not professionally or for a-"

Remington turned to me with the biggest smile on his face and I couldn't control the rate at which my heart was beating.

"Seriously? That's awesome! You'll
have to play for us sometime!"

Omg was he serious? I was a self taught bassist but I'd taken some exams and I was decent enough. It would be my dream to play in a band, let alone a punk band with my neighbours.

"Really? Wow yes please!"

"Brilliant! You don't play anything do you, man?" Remington asked Ryan. Ryan has quite a gothic fashion sense but he listened to classical music. I had quite a girly style and yet I listened to punk. It was quite funny when people saw our playlists because they always assumed it was the other way round.

"Only the clarinet for a classical orchestra - not much use for a punk band," Ryan laughed.

"You do you, bro," Remington patted him on the back.

Mum invited him to dinner but he said he had to meet his brothers.

"Well it was great meeting you guys, I'll pop round soon and you can meet my band Elodie if you want."

"That would be lovely thank you."

I was really really excited.
