Chapter 7 - Bye bye Steve

I returned to my senses and shakily pulled out my phone to call Remington. After 3 calls he didn't pick up so I tried Emerson instead. Same thing happened. Eventually I managed to get hold of Sebastian and could barely get my words out.

"C-Can you pick me up?"

He was there in half an hour and didn't say anything as he pulled me into his chest.
"Let's get you home."

I told Sebastian what had happened on the drive to his house and he just sat there listening. When I got in, he made me tea, gave me an ice pack, and called the others. He was like a big brother to me and I almost cried at his kindness.

"El! Are you okay?" Remington called, bursting through the door and pulling me into a hug. He fussed around me and took a look at the dark bruise on my cheek. His long fingers brushed over the mark and I winced in pain.

"Why didn't you tell us what was going on sooner!" Emerson asked, hugging me as well.

I was so lucky to have such kind friends.

"I'm sorry, I just didn't want you to get hurt. I care so much about you guys and I know what Steve's like," I told them sheepishly.

"We understand. But we're not going to let him hurt you anymore, okay?" Sebastian said firmly.

After talking with the guys for a while, we agreed I should call Steve and break up with him like that. Remington squeezed my hand as I put the phone on speaker, gesturing for them all to stay silent.

My heart bead rapidly as the dial tone rang loudly through the room. I heard the click and gasped quietly.

"What do you want?" Steve spat harshly.

Come on, Elodie, you can do this.

"Steve. I want to break up."

He laughed menacingly and Sebastian rolled his eyes.

"You can't be serious. Is it cause I hit you? I've done worse before."

Emerson looked at me in shock and I just bowed my head, waiting for Steve's next words.

"You know if you break up with me I'll just tell everyone at school you were frigid."

That wasn't true, Steve and I had slept together a few times. I didn't really want to but he pressured me and made me feel bad if I didn't.

"I don't even care. We're over."

I ended the call before he could say anything else and the boys all looked at me kindly.

"You did the right thing," Sebastian smiled.

"Do you wanna stay the night? We could have a sleepover to make you feel better?" Remington offered.

"I'd love to another time but I think I'm just gonna go home. I need to tell my mum everything."

They all hugged me before I left and I sighed when I got in. How was I gonna tell my mum?

After half an hour of ranting about Steve, Mum was in tears as she hugged me tightly.

"I'm so sorry, sweetie! I should have known you weren't happy, but he had us fooled. I feel like such a bad mother. Slimy son of a bitch!"

She got Ryan to stay at a friend's house so her and I could have a girls night watching movies and eating ice cream. We watched Bridget Jones' diary which was our favourite.

I fell asleep happy for the first time in a while; Steve was out of my life, I had the best friends who would support me through anything, and Mum and I had spent the evening bonding.
