"I should probably get home before my parents start to worry about me," Leondre' says.
"Okay. Bye," Cindy and I say at the same time. When he is out of earshot Cindy starts to talk. "Who's the hottie?"
I shrug nonchalantly while trying to push down the burning anger inside of me. "One of our new neighbors."
"I wonder if he attends our school."
"Yeah. Me too."

The next day we decide to do some unpacking, since we have nothing else to do and we start school tomorrow.
"Where should I put this," I ask my sister, pointing to the dresser.
"Just put it in that corner over there," she replies, pointing to a dark corner of the room.
"Kay," I said, moving the dresser to the spot.
There was a knock on the front door and I hear Conner run out of his room. "I'll get it," he yells as he stomps down the stairs. I hear him open the door and him greet someone. "Hey Leondre'. What's up?"
I perk up at his name and move into the hallway to better hear their conversation.
"Nothing much. Um, is your sister home," Leondre' asks nervously.
"Yeah they're both here. Which one are you looking for," Conner says.
"Catherine," he answers and I immediately start to hyperventilate at the thought of him wanting to see me.
"Hold on. Cathy! Leon's here to see you," Conny yells. "Is it okay if I call you Leon?"
"Yeah, that's fine," he tells him.
Oh my gosh. Leondre' is here to see me? I get myself under control and slowly walk down the stairs so that I don't seem too eager. When I reach them, Leondre' smiles at me, which in return makes me smile.
"Hey Leon," I say kind of breathlessly.
"Hey Cathy. How are you," he replies back.
"I'm good. How are you?"
"I'm great."
I notice that Conner is still standing there, so I turn to him. "Hey Conny. Don't you have some unpacking to do or something?" I give him a look, telling him not to argue with me.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm going," he mumbles, walking away.
I turn back to Leondre' once it's just the two of us.
"Should I come inside," he asks.
"No," I say a little too fast. "I'll come out."
He chuckles at my reaction and replies with an okay.
"So, what's up," I ask him as I step out onto the porch.
"Um, I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me? That is, if you don't have a boyfriend," he says kind of shyly.
I was stunned at first, but I soon break out of my trance to answer him. "I'd love to!"
I threw my arms around him and he said, "Great!"
"I'll go get my stuff and be right back," I tell him.
I quickly threw on my shoes and a jacket and ran back out the meet him. We walked across the street to his house to get his car and he drove us to this old-timey looking diner. It was so cute and reminded me of the diner from the show Riverdale.
