Arranged Marriage

Chapter 14

April is here which means Maya's wedding is in less than three months.
She can barely believe it and maybe she can make it happen.
She has always liked Josh but he doesn't feel the same.
It will be her dream and his biggest nightmare.
She has been engaged for a little more than six weeks and she doesn't know how to feel about it.

But Josh did.
He was waiting for Maya outside her school burning to talk to her.
Which he didn't know is that she had a really bad day.

"What do you think are you doing?" Josh asked as soon as he saw Maya.
"What?" Maya said.
"You are acting like this entire thing is planned. Which if you forgot isn't even close to true," Josh said.
"Can we talk a little later?" Maya ask.
"For what? It's not like you can change everything within a second. Everyone in college thinks that I am engaged to a girl because it's my choice. You are..."

Suddenly Maya's phone rings and she answered it immediately.

"Maya, hello?"
"Good afternoon Miss Hart. Its Emily speaking from Greenwich Village Elementary School."
"What's wrong?" Maya asked.
"August seems sick. He keeps vomiting," Emily said.
"I'm on my way. I have to go. We'll talk later," Maya said.

She jumped in her car and drove to Auggie's school which luckily was just half a mile.
When she got there she immediately went to his class.
She didn't seem him but she did see a teacher of him so she knocked.

"Excuse me. I'm looking for August Matthews," Maya said.
"He is taking a quick nap. I'm Amber. I guess you are his mother."
"Oh no. Not at all. I'm getting married to his uncle. They called me to come pick him up," Maya said.

"Aunt Maya," Auggie said and ran to Maya then she picked him up.
"Hey Buddy. Your teacher said you're not feeling well," Maya said and felt Auggie's head.
"Feverish. Let's get you home," Maya said.

She drove direct to the Matthews house and opened the door.
She then put Auggie to bed and tried to break the fever.
She managed and after awhile he fell asleep.

"And now?" Riley asked when she saw Maya.
"Auggie's school called. Vomiting and fever. I picked him up and brought him here. I just hope he'll feel better soon," Maya said.
"You didn't have to do that," Riley said.
"Well your uncle confronted me about how I am handling the engagement so I was glad to get away. Today was just too bad."
"I have a date with Lucas. I just cane to get ready," Riley said and was gone.

Not too long after she went to her room Josh showed up.

"If you want to fight come back another time. I'm busy," Maya said.
"With what? We need to talk about this," Josh said.
"Fine. You want to know why I am acting like this? Because I have no idea what to answer when people ask me if it is true that I am engaged to a twenty-one year old guy. And yes. I'm handling it like it was planned. What else am I suppose to do?"
"Okay. I get it," Josh said.
"I don't have the strength to fight with you right now. I had a really bad day at school and Auggie's school called to tell me he's sick so I have to take care of him until your sister-in-law gets back so can we please just leave it?" Maya asks.
"Is Auggie okay?" Josh asked
"Vomiting and a huge fever. But I have it under control. Just leave me alone," Maya said.
"Call Topanga," Josh said.
"She is in Manhattan. I have it under control. Can you please just leave me alone?" Maya ask once again.

"Maya!" she hears Auggie calls and go to him.
Josh decided to leave her and go back to his dorm.
