Chapter 24 – Chris POV
Kevin, one of the gate keepers came around to my side of the car, “Where have you been? We’ve been looking for you!” he said relieved and I’m sure that he and his guys have probably taken some real heat since they guarded the perimeter and Logan took me from the property. I feel for him, but still wouldn’t trade the last three days for anything in my life.
“Sorry, Logan needed me so I went to him on his pack-lands, but I’m here. Can you let us up?”
“Yeah, yeah, who are these guys?” he said flicking his finger towards Logans’ guys.
“Oh they’re in Logan’s pack,” I said simple leaving my answers brief.
“So can we head on up?”
“Yeah but the Elders are here-”
“My brothers called the Elders about me missing?” I feigned surprise.
“No, no, some Fae accused your brothers mate Adina of being involved in some sort of kidnapping,” he stopped speaking his eyes shifting over to Logan. I met his eyes nodding slyly, as he waved his hand and the gates opened.
Driving up to the main house, we see numerous cars, and almost as many in the back as well, we were heading into a full house I’m sure. Entering the hall, everyone in the assembly looked toward our entrance and I heard a screech followed by gasps. Ignoring them all, Logan and I walked the isle and Anna, followed by my mother and father stalked over to me. Watching Anna, her eyes, her body, hair everything, it all reminded me of Adina who was on stage sitting next to my brother. Anger flashed in my eyes and before she could get within three feet of me, I stopped cold.
“Don’t touch me, don’t come any closer,” I gritted out my hands clenched to my sides. I didn’t know, not for sure whether she was involved but knowing what Adina had done I felt a wave of residual anger and disgust.
“Baby?” she cooed at me, my stomach churned, “I found my mate,” I said bluntly; my mother and father gasped. All emotion wiped went blank on her face, nothing, “oh god,” I heard Lucy my little sister say to the side of my parents. Meeting her eyes, I gave her a small smile which she returned brightly.
“Chris, son… what… your mate died son,” my father came closer as Logan snorted; waking Anna up from this blank façade.
“You did this, convinced him that his mate was alive? It wasn’t enough that you thought Rainella was his mate, now you’re pushing him onto someone else? Well I won’t let you ruin this for me Logan, what type of brother are you?” then it was my turn to snort.
“Sorry,” I laughed towards Logan who was looking at me like I was crazy, I turned back to Anna “he – he didn’t tell me or push me onto someone, I found my mate. But that’s not why I’m here,” I said as Anna took a step closer.
“Do. Not. Touch. Me.” I snarled angrily my wolf wanting to rip the hand that was outstretched towards me.
