Matt had noticed something lately: his style wasn't a very popular style for guys nowadays.

He always noticed the attractive guys that would walk around. He noticed that the way their hair wasn't too long, or too short, and how they kept their face neatly shaved, and how they wore the newest clothes.

He would never admit it out loud, but even he found them attractive.
With their trendy hair, and clean shaved faces.

He wasn't one of those people.
He had long, messy hair, and stubble growing across his jawline.

Did that make him less attractive?

Normally, he wouldn't give the thoughts much mind, but it really bugged him right now.

You always had that effect on him.
You made him feel, and think in ways he wasn't used to.

Even though you would assure him that he was perfect just the way he is. And you would soothe away any insecurity that plagued his mind, he still stressed over it.

He wanted to be the best he could be for you.

Earlier that evening, when Matt had came to pick you up from work he noticed you were occupied.

As you waited in one of the booths at the café you worked at you were chatting with another guy.
The guy was attractive.
Freshly cut hair that looked fluffy, and a freshly shaved face.
He smiled, and flirted with you.

And you laughed and blushed.

Matt wasn't concerned about you cheating.
But he began to feel overly insecure.

What if she leaves me for someone like him?

So now Matt sat in bed staring at his book blankly. He would normally read a book while waiting for you to join him in bed.

But he just stared at the book as thoughts ran through his mind, only adding to his growing anxiety.

"That page must be really interesting," you tease sitting next to him.
He hum, snapping out of his thoughts.

"You've been staring at that page for almost five minutes," you say brushing blonde hair from his face with your fingers, "it must be instresting."

"No," he says marking his place by folding the upper corner of the paper before placing the book on the bedside table, "I was just lost in thought."
"What were you thinking about?"

He takes down his blonde hair from its ponytail, and shrugs, "Stuff."
You nod and lay you head on his shoulder, "what kind of stuff?"
"Just stuff." he lays his head on yours, tangling your fingers together.

You laugh quietly, "what's wrong?"
"Nothing." he sighs, "just tired."

You could tell that he didn't want to talk about what ever he was thinking about. He never does.
And as much as you didn't want to, you didn't pry anymore.

"Do you wanna sleep now then?" you ask, in which he responds with a nod.
You both turn get comfortable laying down, getting into a position like the sweetheart's  cradle, and turn off the light.

Matt laid on his back, his arm resting around your shoulders tightly as you laid you head against his shoulder. You hand rested on his chest, your index finger tracing circles against his broad chest.

"Mattie?" you ask tilting your head to look up at him.
He hums deep in his throat, making it seem almost like a growl.
"I love you." you say.
"Love you too, maple." he says kissing your forehead gently.

~*~*~*~*

It was Saturday. Which meant you didn't have to work today.
A normal Saturday would be spent cuddling with Matt, or going on walk in the woods.

However, today Matt had to get up early to run errands. He had woke you up around seven to tell you he would be out for a while.

You didn't question him or anything, you knew you could trust him.
So you gave him an okay, and a quick kiss.

It was now going into the later evening hours, and get still hasn't came home.
The later it got, the more you worried. You knew his line of work was particularly... Dangerous, and that kept a thousand worries in your mind.

You tried to distract yourself by cleaning, and cooking dinner. Though it didn't do much considering you still glanced at the clock, and checked your phone every few minutes.

You had finally finish cooking the salmon, and the pesto- dressed vegetables, feeling pride in the dinner.

As you were setting the table the front door was opened and closed.
"Matt?" you called out.
"Yea," was your response.

You smiled upon hearing the familiar gruff voice, it was certainly a relief to know he was okay.

"Welcome home," you say walking to meet him at the door, "I made dinner if you're-"

The words died in your mouth as you saw your lover.
You were used to seeing him with blood on his clothes, or bruises on his body.
Even seeing that he had a new set of scratches from kuma wouldn't have surprised you as much as what you saw now.

Matt, your gruff boyfriend, stood in the infront of the door in his normal red flannel, dirty jeans, and boots.

But what surprised you most was his hair.
His long, messy hair had been reduced to a short haircut, even though it was still a little messy.

Not only had his hair been cut, his face was now clean shaven. The light brown stubble that normally decorated his jaw was now no where to be found.

He scratched the back of his neck,"ah..." pink dusted his face, and his violet eyes looked everywhere except you, "do you like it?"

"It's certainly... Different." you say with a soft smile, walking to stand infront of him.
"Does it look bad?" he asked,  his eyebrows knitting together, "I told Oliver not to cut it too short."
"It looks...okay," you assure, "but why?"

"I just thought maybe you'd like it better." he said.
You touched his hair gently, "Why would I like it better? It looked really good on you before."

He didn't answer you, but you already knew the answer. He just bit the inside of his cheek, and looked away with a flustered face.

You hug him, your arms circling his waist. He wrapped his arms around your shoulders.

You laid your head on his chest, "Mattie?" you say softly, he hums in reply.
You tilted your head to look up at him, and gave him a small smile.

"Never change," you plant a small kiss on his cheek, "you're already perfect."
He grunts, a subtle smile playing his lips.

"And never cut your hair again," you add in, "short hair really doesn't suit you."
"Agreed," he chuckles.
