"-and this is my room. So now you've seen the whole apartment building, little dude." Larry toed off his shoes and eyed the green and blue bean bags near his dresser. He decided on the green and settled into his favorite bag.
"Make yourself at home, I enjoy the company." He motioned for the smaller teen to join him. He watched as blue shoes were hesitantly kicked off and a blue boy was sat in the latter bag. The silence that hung over the two of them was nothing less than comfortable, but nothing more than intimate. Larry's thoughts began to wonder to unsaid words and unasked questions as his gaze flowed to the other boy in the room. He noticed as he began to toy with his fingers, just as he'd played with his locker earlier in the day, thoughts seemingly racing through his mind but having no escape into their space. Finally, Larry broke the silence.
"So, you and Travis, huh? Anything going on there?" Larry teased, chuckling when the small boy blushed.
"Uh, I'm not sure... Maybe?" He questioned, trying to find purchase in the larger male's face.
"Travis is pretty alright. We've had our differences, definitely, but he's all in all a good guy." He reassured him, letting him know his thoughts. Sally nodded thoughtfully before returning to his riveting work on his fingers. They seemed to be the most interesting thing in the world in that moment. The silence from before fell over them again, this time neither of them dared cut into it with useless words. They had an understanding of each other, almost as if they were meant to be friends. Meant to be in the same room, the same area. Suddenly, something was more important than their stupid quiet bonding.
"Have you ever listened to Sanity Falls?" Larry perked up, watching as the only feature he could see contorted into confusion.
"What's that?" Sally asked, earning a dramatic gasp.
"Only the best band in the entire damn world!" Larry exclaimed, hopping to his feet to press the small, worn down, play button on his stereo. He pushed the worn down knob to the right to blast the music up, hoping his mom didn't mind. He was, after all, entertaining a guest. The electric guitar flooded Sal's ears as the song began, and Larry pushed his bean bag to the corner for more space. The smaller boy watched in confused amusement as Larry planted his feet on the dingy carpet and prepared himself. The lead singer, or really "screamer", began his abuse and at the same instant, dark brown locks were flying through the air. Larry held up his index and pinky finger to create the infamous hand sign of the punk world. Sal began to bob his head along with the beat, feeding off of Larry's energy. Soon he too stood up and pushed his bag away. He studied Larry's hand for a moment, taking a second to take note of the chipped black polish, and mimicked the symbol.
"Yea, come on! Get into it!" Larry shouted over the deafening music, encouraging the blue boy to follow his lead. He stared as Sal began to move his head from side to side, flinging his pigtails around. Defined features on a pale mask became a blur as Sally let himself go. Larry joined in once again, screaming the lyrics along with the sound. After a long 3 minutes and 6 seconds the song ended. Larry flopped himself onto his bed, almost all air having been pulled from his lungs. He perked up as soon as his ears adjusted and he heard the other boy's contagious laughter.
"What song was that?" Sal yelled, not used to the sheer volume at which Larry listened to music yet. He'd get used to it soon enough.
"Its called Singular. Its one of my favorites." He responded, speaking a bit louder to make sure he was heard.
"He sounds like a he's possessed." There was laughing for a moment before the two of them settled down. Larry stilled on his bed, staring up at his white popcorn ceiling. Sal took it upon himself to hop up and lay beside him, staring at the ceiling and trying to make out shapes. They stayed this way, laying side by side in the comfortable silence they seemed to create every few minutes. Neither of the two remember falling asleep, they only knew that they were awoken by the smell of a home cooked meal, the likes of which Sally hadn't seen in a long time.

"I'm telling you guys, we fell asleep. On the same bed. I have got this one locked in." Larry gloated to the group, all of whom were unimpressed.
"So you fell asleep after exerting massive amounts of energy? That's not you hooking him in, Larry, that's biology." Todd responded, pushing his thin framed glasses up on the bridge of his nose.
"Oh come on, can't you let me have this?" Larry whined, knowing fully well that Todd was probably right. Ash laughed from her usual spot beside the abnormally tall boy.
"So what if you don't get him, Larry? Its not the end of the world. There are plenty of fish in the sea." She motioned her arms in a big wave, surely to show him what she was referring to.
"Yea sure, but this one is pretty and baby blue." Larry pouted, eyes locked onto the aforementioned boy on the other side of the cafeteria. Ash rolled her brown eyes, obviously giving up on this cold case.
"If you're so determined why don't you just... Invite him to sit with us." Maple spoke, her voice coming from seemingly nowhere and causing Larry to jump.
"Wha- are you crazy? Sit with us? How am I supposed to talk about him if he's right here." Larry scoffed playfully, shaking his head.
"Hey, don't discredit her. She has a point." Ash ginned in a way that could rival the Cheshire Cat.
"What are you about to do?" Larry eyed her suspiciously, trying frantically to decipher her plan. He saw a flash of purple as her sweater passed his eyes and just like that, she was up.
"Ashle- ASHLEY. NO. Get back here!" He tried with everyone in him to stop her without getting up. He trailed her with his eyes as she crossed the seemingly never ending caf. He watched as she tapped on the shoulder of a black jumper, and he watched as she pointed towards the table. Towards him. He felt the need to hide behind his jacket, red covering his field of sight in a matter of seconds. Everything seemed fine, comfortable even, when it was just the two of them. Larry wasn't sure how to act with him around the rest of his friends. He heard the footsteps growing closer and felt the entire table shift when Ash took her seat again because damn these tables are old.
"So, I'm Ashley, that's Todd and Neil, they come as a package, this is Chug, and that one is Maple. Obviously you've met this big lug, but this is Larry." Larry gave a small wave, still hiding his face from the bright blue eyes he so desperately wanted to gaze into.
"Hi everyone... I'm Sal." He could hear the nervousness behind his words and decided that whatever self assured destructive narrative he was having right now could wait, Sal needed comfort in something. He lifted his 50 ton head from the wooden safety of the table top and gave those blue eyes a smile.
"Welcome to our little world of chaos, Sally Face."
