Chapter 2: Bars On Window

It was the night before school was about to start. They were all sitting at the kitchen table eating dinner.

"Tomorrow is the first day of school. That means all of you will be getting in bed early. Becca does the car pool this year now that Bradley is off at college." Winnie said

Bucky got a text "Lets go. We are out here". It was a text from his friend Mason the leader of his group of friends.

Bucky chugged his milk "Im out" he said

"James I just said.." she said

"I know what you said. I sleep fine Ill be back later my friends are waiting mom" he said and he left.

Winnie heard the truck take off. She got up and threw Bucky's plate and glass in the sink. Johnathan walked over to her and rubbed her shoulders.

"Baby what is it?" He whispered.

She wiped tears "I don't know what has happened to my baby. He was a good kid he was smart and so sweet. But ever since me and James announced our divorce a year and half ago. He changed into this kid I dont even know." She said

"He lashes out at James. He hates his stepmother. He found these so called friends and all they want to do is teach my 15 year old how to party." She continued to spill.

Allie Kate dumped her plate grabbed a bottle of water and went up to her room. She got her back pack ready and went to bed. Bucky was at a party with his friends where they partied it up till around 3 in the morning.

When Bucky got home he climbed the terrace that was below his room. He opened the window just as he was stripping his jeans. Winnie turned on the light she saw the bloody condom that he just put in his trash can.

"Mom..what are doing awake?" He said

"One more time James Buchanan! One more time you come home this late and Im putting bars on your window'". Winnie said

" Don"t be so dramatic mom. So I went to a party. Im home and Im fine." He said

"And I swear to God James. The rumor I hear about better be a lie. Cause if I find out that you are going around popping cherries I will no longer give you money for condoms and neither will your daddy." She said

"Mom god the girl was on her period for fuck sakes let me go to bed." He said

Winnie left his room and already decided that she and James needed to figure out something as a punishment. The next morning Allie Kate got her self ready for school. She quietly went into Bucky's room.

She sat a bottle of Tylenol and the water on his night stand. Bucky opened one eye as he slept on his stomach. "Allie Kate..thank you" he whispered.

He sat up and took the Tylenol. She dropped Visine bottle in his hand. "Thanks Allie Kate.." he whispered

"Welcome" she said as she walked back to her room.

She grabbed her back pack and went downstairs. Bucky got himself after he popped some xanax and smoked a joint. He walked downstairs "morning" he said

"Buchanan.." James said as he took a sip of his coffee.

Bucky sat down at his plate and started to eat. "Your mother told me what you did. We have already had this conversation once at my house. Now I agree with her one more time and the bars will go up at my house and here. You are 15 not 20 something you are killing yourself son." James said

"Thanks for breakfast..Becca when are we leaving?" Bucky said as he finished off his pancakes.

"James I am talking." James said

"And I hate you and want nothing to do with you." Bucky said and walked out to his sister's car.

Becca got them all loaded up in her car. Later that day James was filling out his surgery notes when Johnathan came out of his surgery.

"James.. you okay?" He said

He forced a smile. "I wish I could say yes." James said

"Why does Little James lash out at you?" Johnathan said as he leaned against the nurses desk.

James sighed "He blames me. I started seeing Tegan three months after me and Winne seperated. I had already moved into my townhouse. The divorce papers had been filed we were just waiting for it to go through. But in his eyes I guess it looked like I left her to go be with someone else. He told Brayden that he thinks that I cheated on Winnie with Tegan. And that is so far from the truth. I have loved that woman since we were 14 you know that. I still love her but our marriage wasnt what it was suppose to be. We just werent those two crazy kids anymore." James said

"I know that James. But have you told him that?" Johnathan said

"I have tried..he didnt want to hear it." James said

"So he is lashing out at you because he doesn't see it that way." Johnathan said

"Yeah. And it hurts everytime he tells me he hates me." James said

"Im sure it does" he said

"Oh come on.." Bucky said when he climbed up the terrace and saw bars on his window and Allie's. He climbed back down and saw on the front porch swing blankets and a pillow.

It had been two weeks since that night Winnie caught him climbing in. She found him the next morning and woke him up. "Thank you. I can't believe you did that mom. You already took my house key now my window too." He said as he walked in and went up to his room.
