it has been 2 weeks ever since & instead of coming back to los angeles, serenity stayed at jay's house— however he was on tour, so she was alone despite cole trying to convince her to come back home, she preferred to stay in new york rather that it was the furthest away from los angeles because serenity had avoided any contact socially but wouldn't anymore had critch finally landed in new york tonight and couldn't wait to reunite with serenity who also was keeping his house clean, luckily.
" jason critchlong. " serenity finally smiled as she opened the door to let him inside, " serenity orion bennett! " jay dropped his bags and lifted serenity in the air, " i haven't seen you in what seems like months. " the two shared a long hug, until they couldn't breath, " i think it's only been one month but it felt like way too long. " " are you ready to go? " jay asked as he looked her up and down
serenity finally had gotten ready, full glam in oversized dior sweater , " yes, ready as i'll ever be. "
" you're wearing my favorite, dior. "
" you know you're my favorite right? "
" why is that? "
" because you have good taste not just in fashion but in food. " serenity chuckled, " it's good to hear you laugh. " jay smiled, " come on, i'm hungry. "

the two finished their meal but didn't have real world talk about how serenity has been and jay was ready to do so once they arrived to his place, " how have you been? "
" cleaning your jewelry collection was the highlight of my week. " she laughed about how true it was, " i'm serious, you were suppose to be with shoreline at the pop ups. i can't believe you cancelled. "
" me either but i wasn't emotionally stable just as right now, and that's also how i feel about photography right now. " serenity really wasn't ready to get involved into her work again, at least for a while but she knew she would soon.
" hold up, wait a minute. are you serenity bennett, serious, 100% legit right now? " " yes. " serenity looked into jay's eyes, " and what's up with that? " he was 100% concerned, even when serenity was dating brandon, she never cut any work dates for him and that's what he loved about serenity, that she didn't change. but now it has.
" that's the thing, i'm not the old serenity anymore. ever since chicago, my mind hasn't been the same." she sighed, " i haven't had any openings to book a shoot because i don't want to. i know i'm wasting valuable time to make art with my favorite homies but ever since the person who i connected with about photography broke my heart, it hasn't been in my best interest. "
jay looked at serenity, " i understand. i understand. " he couldn't deny her real feelings, of course she wouldn't want to work when she's still hurting but he was hoping that she would actually want to work through it instead.
" i just don't think i'm ready to start living my life. " that hurt, she already wasted 2 weeks, he didn't want her wasting more time," what have you been doing these past weeks?"
" i've been thinking, sleeping , drawing, killing time by cleaning your apartment. " serenity admitted sadly.
" really though, when was the last time you cried? "
" last night. " that hurt jay even more, he hated not being able to be there for his friend during this time even if she didn't want to see anyone. " hey it's okay, i'm not judging you okay. i just don't want this situation to take toll on your whole life okay. it's okay to be sad for a while but i'm here for you, so are all of the guys. "
" i know, thank you. i go back to los angeles in a couple of days anyway."
" that's good but why? " jay hoped that maybe that would change her work ethic, " cole needs help with a shoot and i'm the only one capable of shooting with my vhs camera. " and that was the answer he wanted, " see there you go with getting back into the flow of things. have you talked to any of them? "
" no, i completely delete my social apps off my phone and barely text anyone. i don't need to see anything else on social media right now. " serenity admitted, which once again hurt jay because she loved seeing other photographers work to get inspired. but was glad so she wouldn't see him post.
" do you want to talk to him at all? "
" not right now. "
" but don't you want to know why? " jay didn't understand why she wouldn't, hell he even wants to know why he did what he did, " it just still hurts, it's my first real heartbreak and jay i still don't want to talk to anyone about it please. maybe after i feel better but i'm still hurt. "
serenity didn't talk to anyone about how she felt deeply and what she still felt for brandon, not even to jay or to anybody for that matter. she wasn't ready to talk to anyone about him, at least for a while. but he was worried for serenity but understood her completely and didn't want to rush her into things that she wasn't ready for but he wanted to see her in her full potential and couldn't wait till she would bounce back. and he was especially worried because he hoped she wouldn't be attacked by fans for dating brandon and also, serenity hasn't talked to anyone about her breakup which was similar to what she did with peep's death and her social life around that until she met her new rapper friends later that month but to this day, she hasn't talked about the effect peep's death had on her, he worried for her mental health by keeping things inside, he really did worry for her.
