Amora
ThursdayI clocked in to work feeling more gloomy than usual, I have a bad feeling in my stomach today and I just can't make it out. "Morning." Jackie waved, I returned the gesture and started on my normal routine.
I took the elevator down to the 3rd floor, I normally start on this floor because it's where they put the sane people. They're not really crazy, more scared than crazy if you ask me. "Good morning." I smiled opening my notebook. "Morning." My first patient is quiet, sometimes I don't even write when I'm with her.
"What's up?" I held my pen in my right hand resting my face on my left. "So today I woke up and my family visited, my sisters pregnant with my boyfriend but what can you do about? They moved my date since I've been showing a lot of progress and I might get out pretty soon."
We both smiled at each other, I closed my notebook clicking my pen shut. "Looks like someone had a story for me." I laughed.
"I'll see you later." I gave her a quick hug then went out the door. My little moment of happiness went away and I went back to my normal feeling.
I went around to all the patients on the 3rd floor getting back on the elevator. It's gonna be a long day, and I have yet to see my favorite patient. Last night I couldn't stop thinking about her and how she getting the electric chair. Somewhere deep down inside her there's light and if I try hard enough it'll come out.
I got out the elevator making it back to the break room. "Such a slow day." I opened the fridge taking a bottle of water and sat down. "It's always slow on Thursdays, but it'll feel like your clocking out early."
Jackie and I have been good friends ever since I started working here. I feel bad for her since she lost and friend but she remains strong. "You wanna get breakfast or something?" I asked getting up from my chair. "That'd be great."
She locked her arm with mine and we made our way out. The only good thing about this job is that it's close to everything. Restaurants, libraries, everything you could imagine.
I opened the doors of 'Toast of the Town' holding it open for Jackie. "Why thank you." She smiled taking a seat at the counter, I took the one next to her and looked up at the menu.
"Pancakes," I asked, everything else looks boring. "Two double-stacked pancakes." I smiled at the waitress earning one back.
"Why do you always defend Blythe?" Jackie asked before sipping her apple juice. "Uhh, I don't know actually, I guess I don't want her being hurt." I shrugged.
"Sorry for asking it's just I've never seen a nurse be so kind to someone so crazy," Jackie explained.
"I don't like that word." I weakly chuckled. I don't like when the nurses describe Blythe as 'crazy' because she's the complete opposite.
"Thank you," I said having my pancakes placed in front of me. "Do you like working here so far?"
"Yeah, so far so good," I said with my mouth full. Every day I wake up smiling cause I get to see Blythe but today just isn't the day.
We ate quietly talking here from here. I picked up the check since it wasn't much, I held the door open for her. She locked her arm with mine all the way back to the building.
Everything was just how we left it, "I'll see you later." Jackie waved me off before getting on the elevator. I grabbed my notebook from the break room and stood behind the front desk.
I threw on a fake smile as a visitor came walking in. "Hello." I smiled while reaching for the sign-in sheet and visitor stickers. "Who are you seeing today if you don't mind me asking?" I gave her a pen.
"Blythe, Blythe Fayre."
My smile instantly came off but I pulled myself together. "Are you related to her?" I asked coming from behind the desk. "Yeah, I'm her daughter."
What?
Blythe
"You just don't listen do you?" I rolled my eyes at Amora as she looked at me, her face is pale and her colors been flushed down the toilet. "You have a visitor." She said plainly opening the door some more. "Who?" I asked putting my chairs back on all fours.
"Your daughter."
I'm baffled at the words that just came out her mouth. "Bring her in," I said still unsure about this.
I put my head down but lifted it up once the door closed. "You?!" I've never been so sick in my life. "Hey, baby."
I got up from my seat pacing back and forth. When I killed my girlfriend and her family, I made a promise to someone that we'd be together if they promised not to rat me out. That someone is my ex-girlfriend's sister.
She was out of town at the time and when she came back the crime scene pointed at me. "Don't you miss me?" Victoria asked slowly unzipping her jacket.
"You need to go."
"But I missed you." She unzipped her jacket revealing her breast.
I have to kill her, there's no other way out of this.
"I missed you too," I said giving in to her, she smiled taking her jacket off completely. She came up to me putting my hands on her waist.
I feel dirty being this close to her. I smiled picking her up, bringing her to my bed. I never sleep in it because it's the last place I want to be when I die.
I laid her down as we smiled at each other. "Watch over me when you're dead," I whispered getting on top of her. "What?" She asked furrowing her eyebrows. I snatched the pillow from underneath her head and smashed it into her face.
She screamed but it was muffled, I held the pillow down against her face as she squirmed around. "Stop moving!" I yelled pushing the pillow in deeper. Victoria grabbed my wrists digging her nails into them.
I grinned noticing her movement slowing down and her grip loosening up. I let go the pillow pushing it to the side, I placed two fingers on her wrist.
Nothing
I placed two fingers on the inside of her elbow.
Nothing
I moved to her neck.
Nothing.
I let out a sigh of relief and got off of her, I stood up pulling the blanket over her body. I turned around getting ready to sit back down.
I caught the body shape of someone in the corner of my eye, it took a lot in me to turn and face them. We stood there inertly, staring at one another.
Amora.
