It was hard to continue with the ways to avoid going to the host club. Zein found himself trying to stutter out different lines of lies to Haruhi to keep from the club.
Haruhi had her suspicions that something was wrong, but found if the green eyed boy hasn't told her, then she shouldn't pry. It got continuously harder as the days at school went by. It was usually after their second class Haruhi asked the slightly taller boy if he wanted to join her in the music room. But each time he declined, sometimes it was so tempting to him but he fought it.
He didn't know what he would do if he were to come face to face with the spiky haired boy he'd been avoiding. More than anything he wanted to accompany Haruhi throughout the day, but when it came to walking up the pink stairs to the certain music room he couldn't go.
It was was like a bed of roses grew taller the closer he got to the room. And the taller the roses were, the bigger and sharper the thorns on their sides became. The coal haired boy's heart had already been carrying a small thorn in it which he couldn't seem to get rid of. He couldn't handle the much larger ones which guarded the club doors.
"Are you sure you don't want to come along Zein?" Haruhi asked once again after the bell gave off the signal for students to get to their third class.
Zein gave his childhood friend a soft smile, and though it didn't reach his eyes he didn't worry about it. His hair was softly making a thin veil over his eyes as he faced Haruhi.
"Yeah. Don't worry about me, I'll meet you afterwards." He assured calmly, but Haruhi's eyes we're scanning him with curiosity.
"Why can't you come this time Zein?" Her interrogating voice was soft, but stern in the way she didn't want to be lied to.
Zein felt his ticking heart start to pump a little faster. He was never good at lying to Haruhi, but for the past three months since the winter dance he'd become accustomed to it unfortunately.
"I-I'll be studying." He stuttered out giving Haruhi another small smile.
Haruhi wanted to see the alluring green eyes of the boy to see if he was telling the truth. But not wanting to doubt her long time friend she only nodded.
"I'll see you later then Zein."
With long strides the brunette made her way towards the pink stairs.
Through Zein's green eyes he saw the towering bed of roses that she was heading into. But Haruhi's heart was protected, the thorns nowhere near her and for a moment he thought maybe he could walk through just as fine.
But he thought about the black spiky hair he once loved and the prickly feeling won over his heart. With his swift movements he headed to the library to pass time.

A/N
This book really has 1K reads and I'm so happy TwT
Thank y'all so much for reading this story so far, it's really amazing to start up a new book and to see it slowly grow again like The Boyish Type did/is. I don't have a definite end to the story yet, and it's not as planned as my other one so if any of you have ideas you'd like to see I'd gladly take it and try to incorporate it to give them story a more clear and distinct path to go down. I just have a broad sense of what the chapters coming will be like, so I do hope y'all continue to like it :)
