(Alex's POV)

His words stuck with me throughout the rest of the week.

Lisa has asked to get together. It is now 2 in the afternoon, and I'm at Lisa's house.

"Alex!" She greets me. I lean down for a hug. "I forgot how cute you are," I hear her mumble.

"What?" I look at her.

"Nothing! Just remembered something. I figured we have another chance to be friends, so we might as well try," she shrugs.

"Okay," I nod my head.

"So how are you?"

"What are you, my therapist?" I joke. She laughs softly. "I'm good, I guess. Besides the bullies and memory loss."

"Ouch, sorry. I wouldn't understand that..." she sighs.

"Good. I wouldn't wish that upon anyone... Except for maybe Ronnie... and Donald Trump."

She laughs again. Her laugh is cuter than I remember.

"So, I was thinking, how about a classic game of Uno?" She suggests, referring to our childhood tradition of playing ten rounds of Uno before watching a movie.

She rolls to a drawer and pulls out the cards.

"Go!" She shouts after dealing the cards.

"AHHH UNO!" I shout before she can stop me. She groans and puts down her card. I grin and slowly put mine down.

"Aww nooo!" She whines. We laugh and stare at each other. Silence falls over us.

I find us leaning toward each other, slowly.

Aw, fuck it.

I close the gap between us and feel her lips on mine. They taste somewhat like cherries. We pull away at the same time.

"Oh. Wow," she sighs happily.

"Lisa?" I ask softly.

"Yeah?" She hums in response.

"Will you go out with me?" I ask without skipping a beat. She smiles and leans in for another kiss.

"Hi!" I walk into Jack's house after I leave Lisa's. Rian and Zack wave while Jack hugs me.

"What's up?" Zack says, staring at my face. I haven't stopped smiling. And I can't. I just push down this grin.

"Lisa and I kissed," I say cheerily. Jack's arms drop from around me.

"Oh- that's great..." Zack plasters a smile on his face, glancing at Jack. Rian does the same.

"Are you two dating?" Jack asks softly.

"Well, I asked her out, and she said yes," I say.

He nods and silently walks to Rian and Zack. He's about to sit down when he speaks, "I'll be right back," his voice cracks as he says it and he rushes off.

"Did I do something wrong?" I look at Zack, while Rian gets up to help Jack.

"You didn't do anything wrong. Jack will get over it eventually-" he says and hugs me. "I'm proud of you- you know, with Lisa," he says quickly. "I'll be right back, have some soda," he gestures to the cans of soda before rushing off. Silently, I follow him so he doesn't hear me.

"I lost him. He's gone. He moved on," I hear Jack repeating over and over again.

"Hey, at least you two are still friends. Don't lose all hope. Maybe he'll remember everything one day," Rian comforts.

"I tried so hard. And I was a fool to think he still loved me," Jack rambles.

"It's okay," Zack shushes him softly.

I can't listen to this any longer. I walk back to the living room and sit down. Just then. I hear the door open. I pull out my phone and go to the first thing I see, which happens to be Instagram. I reach for a can of soda when Zack enters the room.

"Hey!" He grins.

"Do you think I'll ever remember?"

His smile drops. "I don't know Alex. Dr. Stump said you're most likely to get them back. But the longer you're left without them... I'm worried that window is closing."

"I want to remember though. I've done everything before-losing-memories-me would do."

"Maybe there's something you haven't done that you have to do. But I don't know what that is. I don't know what will trigger your memories."

"I wish I knew."

"So do I, Alex. So do I."
