Title from Drugs and Candy by All Time Low
(Alex's POV)
It's been three months. I guess life is okay. Jack, Rian, Zack and I are all still friends. Teachers are cool, especially Mr. Urie and Mr. Way.
I'm still dating Lisa, but a voice in the back of my mind is telling me it's wrong.
"ALEX!" Jack claps his hands loudly in front of my face. I jump and look at him. "Do you want to go clubbing? We have nothing better to do," he says.
"Okay."
"Rian and Zack are coming too. Rian will pick us up," he explains before finishing his bottle of water. "Ready?"
I nod and we walk downstairs. I shoot my mom a text, and she answers with "be careful, and be back by nine."
We hop into Rian's car and drive to the local club.
Tonight is teen night.
We walk in a see a hell of a lot of teens. There's no alcohol, which is great.
We start dancing to the music being played.
"This is awesome!" Jack shouts over the loud music, dancing like an idiot.
"Alex?" A voice asks. I spin around and see Vic. "I never thought you'd be here," he laughs. Then a small boy with pale skin walks over, standing next to Vic. "Oh right, this is Kellin," he introduces me to the boy. "He's new at our school."
"Oh! Welcome!"
"I've been here for this whole year, and I'm in history with you," Kellin says.
"Oh- Uh..."
"It's okay, I tend to be invisible to people," he looks down. Vic kisses Kellin's cheek.
"Are you two together?" I ask in a polite way.
"Is it obvious?" Kellin smiles. Vic gently shoves his shoulder. My god, Vic looks so... In love.
"Well have fun," I say before waving and walking away.
I make my way back to Jack. He smiles and pulls me into a hug.
"So Vic and Kellin, huh?"
"Yep," I pop the "p" and grin.
He laughs and sips his drink. "This is the first time I've ever been clubbing. And I think I like it," he smiles.
"I think I like it too," I reply. He pats my back.
"Very good, grasshopper. Now, we learn the art of dance," he says in a formal voice. Then he starts twerking and spinning around.
"Jack- Jack! People are staring!" I say in between laughs. He ignores me and continues twerking in people's faces. "Jacky!" I continue laughing. He stops and his smile falters for a split second.
"You haven't called me that in months," he smiles. I shrug and he sighs. "Wow that killed the mood," he jokes. My eyes flicker down to his lips.
"I like you," I blurt out. Jack pulls away from the hug.
He had come over because I was having another panic attack.
"I like you too, Lexy," he smiles. I find myself leaning toward him. He stares into my eyes and cups my face. He leans in and closes the unbearable gap between us. He tastes like peppermint. I wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him closer to me. His arm goes around my waist.
We both pull away at the same time. I press my forehead to his.
"You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that," Jack says breathlessly.
"I wanted to do that for a while too. Why didn't you say anything?"
"Because I was scared it would ruin our friendship," he replies, mindlessly tracing lines on my skin.
I laugh and pull away, staring at him. "Thank god you feel the same," I smile. "Jacky, I think I falling for you."
"Jacky? That's new."
"Thought I might try a nickname since you always call me 'Lexy'"
He nods and kisses my forehead.
"Alex!" Jack shakes my shoulders.
I look up slowly.
Lisa. I'm dating Lisa.
"Are you okay?" His voice dripping with panic and his face contorted with worry.
I nod hesitantly. "I'm fine."
"No you're not," he watches my face. "You blanked out and now you won't even look at me in the eyes. What's up?"
"Jack... I-"
"Alex!"
I whip around and see Lisa wheeling over. Jack lets go of my shoulders.
I walk over and hug her. "How are you?" I ask, trying not to freak out.
"I'm alright. I was about to leave when I saw you."
"Oh, alright..." I glance back at Jack, his smile looks fake as hell. I wonder is Lisa can tell.
"Uh. I should go. I'll see you later."
"Okay, Lis," I smile and wave as she rolls away. I turn back to Jack. He isn't even trying to fake a smile anymore.
"Do you love her?" He asks shakily.
"Jack-"
"Answer me, Alexander. Do you love her!?" He raises his voice, looking rather distraught.
He called me by my real name.
"No," my voice cracks. "I don't."
"But you like her?"
"I don't know, Jack. I don't know."
"I'm sorry," he says before rushing away.
Alone.
I'm alone.
Again.
