Armani sighed, looking at the judge, her now long hair a curly mass on her head. She tugged her summer dress, looking at the older woman.
"I saw my dad hit mom in the hotel room when we were on vacation. She begged him not to do it in front of me. He didn't listen. He kept hitting her. I ran to my brothers' room and they got him off her."
"Is your dad here?" Her head snapped to the attorney her mom hired. Armani nodded and pointed to her dad at the opposite end. "Sebastian Rojas."
Her dad grit his teeth, looking at his daughter.
Armani let tears fall not hearing the attorney, she simply cried out, "Why daddy? Why did you hurt mom?"
Sebastian put his head in his hand, taking deep breaths. He was going to cry.
Alden ran up to her daughter and comforted her as she sobbed in her chest. "Can I take her away, your Honor?" The judge nodded and she sent her precious daughter with her grandad outside the door.
Chris approaches the seat, glaring at his dad. "Congratulations ya pinche puta madre. You made Mani cry." The judge hit her gavel, "Don't speak to him."
"My bad, yo honor." Chris sat back, his father's attorney approaching him.
"So what exactly did you see my client do?" He asked.
"He was clocking ma in the face. She had to wear glasses the next day." Chris told.
"Why didn't she just go to the hospital? Or the police station?"
"We was in a whole nother country my g. She had to wait it out till we got back."
"It's Mr. Jones, young man. Anyways. Why did she wait this long to file a case against him?"
"Well Jones. Moms divorced and kicked his ass out as soon as we got back. So I don't know what you talking about." Mr. Jones felt like he was talking to a wall with Chris.
"No further questions." He gritted.
"How long was he assaulting you?" Her attorney asked.
"Four months." Alden answered. "I only stayed for the kids, especially after he cheated on me and got someone else pregnant."
"Has he shown aggressive tendencies before?"
She was about to confess, "When I was pregnant with the twins... he grabbed me by the hair and slammed me against the wall... that was the first time."
"Do you feel like your life and your kid's lives are in danger?"
"Yes."
"No further question."
Mr. Jones came up, "I was told you visited Mr.Rojas recently. Is that true?"
"Yes. I visited him with my friend Lauryn Behr. I wanted closure, and I wasn't safe doing it alone. He yelled and he was about to punch me and that's when Lauryn came in to stop him. I realized there was no co-parenting for us for Armani."
"If you were so unsafe, why didn't you just go to police or court to get it sorted out?"
"Cos if he'd hit me... he'd hit her."
"No point in lying. Alden? The reason why I kept hitting you in the last few months, the reason why I started in the first place after being married for almost twenty years is because I started to think about our children. How they're mixed with black. I got so disgusted with myself, seeing I went against my mother on marrying you, sleeping with you. I was so disgusted and disappointed I even loved a black woman. I didn't have the strength to divorce you first, so I started hitting you. Alden Thomas Rojas... you disgust me, and you deserve to be beat to death."
The twins got out their seat the security holding them back, escorting them out as Alden broke completely down.
"We the jury found that Sebastian Rojas is guilty of aggravated assault and child endangerment."
30 year sentence.
And he went away with a smile.
Of course this would've been long if I had the energy but I be tired. 😂 But for real, how you feeling right now?
