"Genma! It's about time you bring this young lady down to meet me!"
"Ma, come on, don't be embarrassing." Genma said, holding the door to his mother's house open and letting [Y/N] step through.
"Genma, don't talk back to your mother." The older Shiranui woman said, slipping her apron off and coming closer to the front door.
"But Ma—"
"Genma, what did I just say? Now let me look at this beauty! I can't believe it—the Hokage's daughter and my boy!"
Mama Shiranui, as she insisted everyone call her, didn't hesitate to pull [Y/N] into a bone crushing hug. "My, my, Genma. She's gorgeous! How on earth did you manage to nab her?"
Genma couldn't help rubbing the back of his neck and letting a small blush rise to his cheeks (something [Y/N] enjoyed seeing—Genma was never easily flustered and it was adorable). "I dunno Ma, I just got lucky."
"Ohh, now I see." She turned back to [Y/N]. "You've got my boy wrapped around your finger, dear! All he ever comes talking about anymore is you. He's like a schoolboy in love or something!"
"Ma!"
[Y/N] giggled. "Oh, don't you worry. He's got me in the same boat."
Mama Shiranui grinned at Genma. "Now see here boy, this one's a keeper."
Then his mother turned and went back to the kitchen to finish cooking. Genma moved forward and took [Y/N]'s hands into his own. "I swear, she's so embarrassing."
"No, she's sweet Genma. She loves you!"
"Yeah, yeah. Sweet. You should've seen her when I was younger."
"Genma!" His mother called from the kitchen. "Don't hover in the doorway! Bring her in here and you two get ready at the table! Dinner is ready!"
"Yes Ma."
[Y/N] laughed and followed Genma further into the house. They quickly washed their hands and came to sit at the dining table that Mama Shiranui had already set for them.
"Wow, everything looks so good!" [Y/N] said, eyeing over the home-cooked meal. Her own mother passed when [Y/N] was still fairly young and growing up with the other men of the house, she didn't eat many home cooked meals. It was mostly whatever Asuma brought home or whatever her father had brought in by his assistants. [Y/N] herself had learned to cook, but she always preferred the battle field over the kitchen.
"It's always good. That's why I come once a week to have dinner." Genma chuckled, picking up his plate and starting to pile food on it.
"You come once a week because you're a mama's boy." [Y/N] teased.
"That, too."
"Genma, I swear! I raised you better than that! The guests always get their helpings first!" Mama Shiranui said, rounding the corner. She had her hands on her hips the moment she seen him.
"Er, this is [Y/N]'s plate!" He said quickly, eyes wide.
"I'm sure. There's no way she piled that plate up that high. Only you. But what can I do?" She sat at the table too, directly across from [Y/N]. "The boy likes to eat!" She said, winking.
"Ma!"
[Y/N] laughed and any anxiety she had about meeting Genma's mother faded away. Before she knew it, she diving into conversation with the older woman. She was a kind and lovely lady (obviously that's where Genma got his good looks). His mother was a retired shinobi, having taken time off when Genma was born. His father, who was also a shinobi, had been killed not long after, so Genma didn't really remember him all that well. Since Genma was an only child, it had just been the two of them for a while.
Having said that, Mama Shiranui was very excited to meet Genma's new girl. "It's about time he brought you down. As much as he talks about you, I just had to meet you! Tell me, does he treat you right?"
"Of course! Genma is proper gentleman."
"Exactly how I raised him. I'm glad to see something got into that thick head of his."
After their dinner (and dessert) were finished, [Y/N] offered to help clean up. She felt bad that Genma's mother had gone through all the trouble to cook for them, but his mother waved her off. "No, no! You two are so young, go out and have a nice evening together. I don't mind a bit as long as you promise to come visit again!"
"Of course I will! I wouldn't turn down the opportunity for another meal like that." She grinned at his mother.
Mama Shiranui smiled back and bid her farewells (which included another hug) and sent [Y/N] to the door. After Mama Shiranui realized Genma had followed, she called out to him. "Genma, get back here and kiss your mother bye!"
Genma, who already had one foot out the door, sighed and laughed to himself. "Wait right here, baby. I'll be back."
He turned and made his way back to the kitchen, leaving his girlfriend waiting patiently at the door. Once in the kitchen, he hugged his mom and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He started to pull away before his mother wrapped her arm around him and pulled him down to her (as Genma had outgrown her long ago).
"Tell me, Genma, is she the one?"
Genma smiled and blushed. "Yeah, Ma, I think she might be."
