C.W. Mention of school stress, mention of bad home life (idk how else to put that),

If you are unaware (and uncultured), this is the song in Shadowhunters where Alec is about to marry a woman named Lydia (an arranged marriage, to some extent). Magnus crashes the wedding and then he and Alec get together.

"C'mon Virge!" Patton called out as he dragged Virgil through the crowd.

One of his favourite singers were performing in the town park. Patton, of course, was ecstatic. Virgil was his best friend, and the only other person he knew who liked Roman's covers.

Roman was a Youtuber who covered songs in both English and Spanish. Although Patton didn't know Spanish, he could sing the songs. He'd learnt the translations and memorised the sounds of the Spanish words so he could sing it in both languages.

Fortunately, the soulmate tattoo on his forearm was a line from his favourite song. It was one Roman had covered a while ago and he'd fallen in love with it. He so hoped his soulmate was a Roman fan.

Patton wanted to make sure he was at the front of the makeshift stage. He knew that he'd never get the chance to see Roman again, so he wanted to make sure he was right in the action. Virgil was just glad to see Patton so happy.

Things hadn't been going great for him recently. School was stressful with exams coming up. His home life was horrible too, to the point that he would go from school to Virgil's any night he could and stay overnight. As per Virgil's request, he'd basically moved in, keeping spare clothes and a lot of his possessions there. Virgil's parents didn't mind, they had almost adopted Patton at this point.

This small, local concert had been keeping Patton going for months. He was so excited when he found out how cheap the tickets were and that he wouldn't have to arrange travel out of town. Virgil had bought the tickets for him anyway.

Patton managed to get right up to the stage. He clung to Virgil and flashed him a wild smile. The loud hum of the crowd turned into uproarious cheering. Patton turned back to the stage and joined in, catching his first glimpse of Roman as he strutted on stage.

~~~
Roman took a deep breath and walked out on stage. He was met with the roar of fans screaming his name. Despite holding this concert in a small town, there was still a good turnout. People must have come in from nearby cities.
He walked to the front of the stage and glimpsed around the crowd. It was mostly a sea of faces, but one person stuck out to him in particular. A short boy right against the stage, with curly blonde hair and freckles. He had the brightest smile on his face as he cheered. Roman felt his face heat up but shook it off and tore his eyes away from the stranger.
"Hey guys! How is everyone?" he called out to the crowd. They all shouted incoherently in response.
Roman chuckled and nodded to the stage crew, indicating that they should start the first song.
~~~

Patton bobbed along to the songs, softly singing the ones he knew. He was glad that the other concert-goers were respectful and not screaming the whole time. He could barely stop himself screaming, though, when the opening chords of Darte Un Beso rang out.

A smirk spread across Roman's face, one that could almost be perceived as flirtatious. Patton blushed and immediately felt bad. He really didn't want Roman to see, considering he was at the front.

One last thing about Roman. Patton has had a massive crush on him since... he first saw him. Sure, it's cheesy but Patton couldn't get over how completely genuine he was from the start. His singing voice was beautiful, he was devilishly handsome, and he was so kind-hearted. He had a side channel dedicated to keeping his fans updated about his personal life. He was always as open as he could be but respectful towards the people who were mentioned, in case they didn't want their lives screamed out to the internet.

Roman started singing and Patton's heart melted. He felt the familiar butterflies dance in his stomach as the words rolled off his tongue. He remembered the lonely nights when he'd put that video on and imagined Roman singing it to him. It was so comforting to him, even when he started staying over at Virgil's all the time.

He mouthed along to the lyrics, having memorised their sound. He was fixated on Roman, not daring to rip his eyes away. He was there, right there. It was unbelievable. Patton had waited so long for this. He could almost imagine Roman was singing it to him.

"Falar en portugués"

Roman began to walk towards him. His face heated up further, if possible. He was sure Roman was going to walk along the front of the stage. Patton was near the side anyway... kind of...

"Aprender a hablar francés"

Nope he was definitely walking towards Patton. Roman's face was bright red, and let's just say it wasn't particularly warm. He had a warm smile on and a few people around him were gasping and nudging him ecstatically.

"Aprender a hablar francés"

Roman bent down on one knee in front of Patton, still just above him. The girls around him had now pressed him up against the stage, making sure he was as close to Roman as possible. They were all squealing in anticipation. Patton and Roman's faces were both as dark as each other's.

"Yo sólo quiero darte un beso"

Roman cupped Patton's jaw, pulling him even further towards him. Little did he know that Patton's heart almost jumped out of his chest. Firstly, because Roman was singing to him and oh my god he'd only fantasised about that. Secondly, those were the words! His soulmate words, and it was the Roman who sang them to him.

"Holy shit." Patton never swore. Ever. But in this situation, it was the only appropriate thing to say that would convey how strongly his heart was pounding.

A flash of realisation washed over Roman's eyes. He must've recognised the words as his own too. He sat by Patton for the rest of the song, not necessarily singing to him, this was a concert after all, but Patton caught the singer glancing at him every so often anyway.

Thankfully, Darte Un Beso was the last song and before Roman gave his closing statement, he told Patton to meet him backstage. However, backstage was literally the open space behind the stage with a temporary barrier around it. Patton trotted around anyway, clutching onto Virgil's arm and babbling to him about how thrilled he was. As soon as he made it to the barrier, he saw Roman, still blushing and sitting on a plastic chair.

"Roman!"

Roman perked up and looked over at Patton. A bright grin spread over his face and he leapt up and ran to the barrier. He jumped over, making half of the crew have a heart attack, and threw his arms around his Patton. They stayed like that for ages, rocking from side to side. Patton tucked his face into the crook of Roman's neck, trying to keep the memory in place.

Eventually, they pulled away. Both were completely speechless as they took in each other's flushed faces.

"I can't believe I found you," Roman finally said, a little breathless.

"I can't believe you're you," Patton said, giggling in disbelief.

"Can I give you my number? We can hang out for a bit anyway but I don't wanna forget."

Patton nodded and pulled out his phone. He held it out for Roman to put his contact in. Patton chuckled at the hearts Roman had put next to his name. Suddenly, he felt a hand on his shoulder. He flinched and whipped around. Virgil was standing there, a small smile on his lips.

"I'll see you later, okay? Make sure you get home before ten or my dad will flip."

"Are you sure? I'm sure Roman wouldn't mind if you stayed."

"Nah, that would be awkward third-wheeling. Have fun!" He walked away before Patton had the chance to object further.

Patton turned back to Roman. He wrapped his arms around him again, loving the feeling of completion. He'd always heard this was what it was like to find your soulmate, but didn't know whether to believe it or not. Now he did, he really did.
