I get to my house and my dad, once again, wasn't home. I reach for the door but its locked. I forgot the door lock changed. Even when my dad isn't home he still finds a way to make my life difficult. It was still raining so I held the umbrella over me. I walk to the side of the house towards my room window. When I was in front of my window I pushed upwards with one hand but it wouldn't budge. I kept on trying but it wouldn't open.

I throw my umbrella down in frustration and try to pry it open with both my hands but it wouldn't give. I was getting soaked in the cold rain and my shoes were getting muddy. As I looked in my room I saw a note on my desk but I couldn't read it from where I was. It was pouring and I had no way of getting in.

As I reached for my umbrella I threw on the ground I hear a voice, "Rachel!" I look up and see Evan. He was running towards me with his jacket above his head. Once he was in front of me he grabbed my hand pulling me. "What are you doing? Let's go inside" he pulled me towards his house.

"I forgot my keys and I-" once we enter his house I was greeted by two kids running around. "Guys this is Rachel, my friend, and our next door neighbor." the two didn't seem too interested and kept chasing each other. He lets go of my arm, catching the little girl from falling, "Emma, you're gonna fall if you keep messing around." the little girl turns towards him with a smile, "When is mom coming I'm hungry" and the other boy chimes in as well, "Yeah, I'm hungry too!"

Both kids now clinging on Evan's legs. "Ah, I don't know, she said she'll be late." They seemed to forget about me and I watch as Evan talks to them with love in his eyes. Lucky kids, they were pure not a sign of bad. I was scared if one of them got too close to me I might contaminate them.

"Rachel, you want to change, you're soaked?" I'm pulled out of my thoughts and nod. "Emma, can you show Rachel the restroom and get some of mom's clothes" Evan tells Emma, who I assume is he's younger sister. She pulls my hand leading me away from the living room to a hallway with doors left and right. We finally reach a door that is probably the bathroom, when Emma speaks her voice was high pitch and sweet. "This is the restroom and I'll bring some of mommy's clothes for you" Emma says opening the door.

"Thank you" I respond with a smile and she runs off, I get inside and wait. After a while I hear a few knocks and a voice, "here is the clothes!" I open the door and reach for the clothes, before I could thank her she runs off. I change into a slightly oversize shirt and blue jeans. I walk out towards the kitchen and smell food. I walk in and see Evan cooking something.

"Whatcha making?" I ask getting hungry by the smell. "I'm making soup since my mom said she's-" "-achoo!" I interrupted by sneezing. "Ah, I'm sorry continue." "My mom is coming late so is my dad so go to the living room and rest. I think you're sick" he says pointing to the living room. I nod and sneeze again.

When I seat on the couch I couldn't stop sneezing. Shoot I am getting sick. A little boy runs up to me pulling the shirt I'm wearing, "that's mommy's shirt! Take it off, you stealer" the boy says tugging the orange softball T-shirt that Emma gave me.

"What me! a stealer? This clearly is my T-shirt, why are you stealing it from me?" I tease and he whines in response, "Mom said she got that when she was smaller! Only mommy can wear that, so take it off." "But mommy said I could borrow this" I say and he pauses, "... mommy said that? You better not lie or your pants will be on fire!" his cheeks were flushed and he was shaking me as he spoke.

"Issac stop shaking her she's sick, you don't want to catch cooties do you?" Evan says holding a bowl of soup. "Cooties!" Issac shouts running out of the room probably to go wash his hands. I let out a small chuckle, "I don't have cooties." He shakes his head with a smile, "all girls have cooties" he says handing me the bowl. "Here, I called my mom and she's already coming." I nod taking the bowl.
