6.- Not going back

Louis' POV:

We were on our way to the cave. The poor girl was sleeping in my arms, covered in my warm coat. It's hurting me to see her like this. I thought that perverts were gonna rape her, and I'm so grateful James helped me to stop them. I met him while I was trying to find Clem, he's a good guy. Although...he knows everything about me, even who I am. I begged him to not say anything to Clem and he just gave me the eyes. All I know about him is his name and he's a real Whisperer, but I can tell that he's really quiet and kind of freaky because when I met him, he had a mask on his face and gloves from walker's skin.

,,So, James...How do you know about the cave, anyway?" I spoke first, breaking the deep silence. James looked from his feet at me for a second and then back at his feet. ,,...I kind of live there." he answered quietly. ,,Oh.., so you heard our all conversation, then?" I asked him kinda embarrassed. He scratched the back of his neck and a small smile was forming on his face. ,,Pretty much,..sorry." he said embarrassed, too. ,,Nah, it's alright."

Clementine started to move in my arms. 
,,Louis...?" she asked sleepily with closed eyes. ,,Yeah?" I replied softly. ,,Are we gonna be there shortly?" James nodded yes. ,,Just a few minutes, Clemmy." I smiled down at her, although she didn't see me.

After some time, we arrived to the cave. Or James' place. I carefully sat down with Clem in my lap, James made light and sat in front of us. He had a tiny smile on his face. ,,You really care about her, don't you?" he said out of nowhere. I gazed down at the sleeping girl and put a strand of hair behind her ear. ,,Yeah, I guess." I responded quietly, so she wouldn't hear.

,,Erm...Are you guys a thing?" he asked shyly. ,,OH, eh, no!" That slightly startled me because I instantly imagined being with Clem and doing stuff with her...I mean, it wasn't bad-

James' blush was even bigger than before and he smiled to himself, I wonder why.
If he'll even try to go after Clem, swear to God, I'll beat his ass.

Great, now was the awkward silence...again...this is killing me.

,,So, James, tell me something about yourself." I said into the air. ,,There's nothing more to know about me..." he replied. I was even more curious and I asked him about the walker mask, he looked surprised about it. ,,I...I think they aren't just monsters, I think there's something in them that makes them alive. Well, not really alive but something in between. In the mask, they don't recognize me and I use it to watch them. I lived among walkers for years. Still do, in a way. When they're alone, they're harmless. Innocent. You'd understand if I showed it to you..."

,,So, something like walkers with souls?" I asked confused. He nodded yes and looked at the ground. ,,Oh..." I'm not very sure about his thoughts, but it would be nice if part of my dad is still out there. Ugh, why mom and Lee had to fight?!

,,Would you mind if I showed it to you? We just have to go somewhere, it's not far."
he asked with hope in his brown eyes. ,,Maybe now?" I looked down at sleeping Clem, her head was buried in my green t-shirt. ,,Maybe later. She needs to rest."

Maybe after an hour, Clementine finally woke up. We gave her her clothes and she was fully dressed up. She was still kind of shocked about the whole situation. James introduced himself and gave her some water. ,,Now what?" I asked. James looked out of the cave and said, ,,There's this house next to a lake, it looked like some pair lived there. I planned for today to check it out, maybe you can join me?" Clem glanced at me for an answer, I said 'sure' and we headed out.
