"THEY'RE NOT STUPID," Lori defended. "They wouldn't just waste one bullet on a walker when we have knives for a reason."

"I gotta agree. It is kind of weird. Should we go find them?" Remmi asked.

"No way. They're too far gone by now. They're fine. Stop worryin'." Daryl told the two women who just huffed in response. The further the group walked, the more tired they had gotten.

The group had split up over two hours ago. Rick and Shane taking Carl in the other direction while the rest of them headed back up to the highway. Andrew had wanted to go, but with Ellie close to her due date, he didn't want to miss anything. Rick agreed and let him go.

Andrew stayed alongside Daryl, Rick putting the two men in charge. They still had a good hour before they would make it even close to the highway.

Andrea had made a comment about Sophia, but for the sake of her mental state, Remmi blocked it out. Andrea had been getting on her nerves a lot lately. While she loved the girl, she thought she was becoming reckless and dangerous.

The simple thought was proven was a scream rang throughout the woods. Turning their heads, they saw Andrea on the ground along with another woman. The cowgirl hat she wore, shielding her face until she looked up.

"Lori? Lori Grimes?" The thick, Georgia accent was clear, sort of surprising everyone. The woman held tightly onto her reigns of the horse as she searched throughout the group.

"That's me," Lori said, walking up to her.

"Rick sent me, Carl's been shot."

"He what!?" With almost no hesitation, Lori hoisted herself onto the animal.

"You can't go with her! We don't even know 'er!" Daryl defended.

The woman, clearly aggravated, spoke up once again, "Rick said ya'll were on that traffic snarl a little up the road?" Glenn nodded in confirmation. "Get off on I-90 and backtrack all the way to Fair-burn road. The name's Greene."

"Remmi, are you coming?" Lori asked before the brunette took off. "She's a doctor." Lori told the woman before telling her to hop on.

Without even thinking, Remmi threw the bag she had on her back to Andrew and got onto the horse.

"You've got to be kidding me!" She heard Daryl shout when they were a good ways away from them.

It had been a half hour when they arrived at the white farm house. Lori immediately got off the horse, followed by Remmi.

"Where is he?"

"First door on the left," Shane told her as Rick went right for Lori. Remmi nodded and allowed herself into the house.

Upon arrival, she went into the first door on the left and saw the ten year old lying on the bed. Another man was standing over him, checking his heart rate.

"And you are?" The man asked, straightening up his figure.

"Dr. Remmi Tyler. I'm- Or was a surgeon," She told him, "General surgery."

"So you deal with these things all the time?" Remmi had noticed how he never said was. Or spoke things in past tense. All the while, she ignored it and answered his questions.

"I did, yeah. You are?"

"Dr. Greene, but call me Hershel," He replied, "Veterinarian."

"Hard gig to get into," She told him, going to check the pulse of the boy.

"Got that right,"

"I'd appreciate a little less conversation and more talk about my son," Lori's voice boomed as she walked into the room.

"So Hershel, what's going on then? What happened?" Remmi asked.

"Hunting accident. The bullet's in fragments. There were seven, but I got the first one out,"

Remmi went to look under the bandage on Carl's chest and sighed. The wound looked horrendous, but there wasn't much they could do about it without the proper equipment.

"Let's talk outside, shall we?" Hershel offered to which they all nodded.

Heading into the kitchen, Lori had asked his medical background. "I'm a vet,"

"Oh," She let out a heavy breathe, "Well that makes me feel a lot better. Where'd you serve?" She asked him.

"No ma'am... I'm a veterinarian,"

Lori's expression was shocked to say the least. She was worried. Worried for her son and her husband who had given more pints of blood than she could count. "So you mean to tell me--"

"Lori, tell me if I'm stepping over your boundaries, but general surgery and being a vet aren't that different. Minus the obvious, our field of work and requirements are very similar," Remmi argued.

"And besides, we don't have much options. Remmi's proved to be an incredible surgeon, but two is always better than one," Rick agreed with both Hershel and Remmi.

"Alright, let's do this," Lori huffed.

Remmi sat in the truck next too Shane. The two haven't really had much of a chance to talk. Which made her question why she was sitting with him and Otis in a blue pickup truck. She didn't know Otis either. But she knew Shane and that was enough. She trusted him. After all, her brother and Shane did work together. Not much, but they did at one point. Therefore Remmi had no reason not to trust the dark haired man.

When the three had arrived at the school they were getting supplies at, Remmi had immediately asked Otis where everything was.

"Would they have a portable ultrasound?" She asked. Not only would it help with Carl, but Remmi could get a picture of Ellie's baby. Something she knew would make Ellie feel a lot better.

"Yeah, in the EMT truck. We might find most of it there. Let's go there first, then we can head to the trailer," Otis whispered, both her and Shane nodding in reply.

This was going to be a long night. And the worst was still yet to come.
