Chapter Two

That evening, Martha didn't study, but instead looked through the memory book again. It had been almost two years since she was offered a place at great acre, and she was glad she'd rejected.
"I'm so happy I decided to stay," she thought to herself, smiling. There were a few blank pages left in the book so she decided to write in them.

"Dear diary, hang on - diary? This isn't a diary; it's a book. Ignore those last few sentences. Dear book, I have been experiencing a lot of strange emotions recently. For example, happiness. When I saw Ollie in school today, I felt happy. And when he wasn't there, unhappy. Not the sort of happy you feel when you're seeing your friend; the one that Lilly feels when she sees Rob for example. I know it sounds crazy and I'm not even 100% sure yet, but I think I l-lo-love him!"

Suddenly, she heard a knock at the door and hastily pushed the book under her pillow. Mrs Fitzgerald walked in.
"It doesn't look like you're being very productive, darling," her mother commented in disapproval.
"I was just... doing some sums in my head," Martha protested. She was terrible at coming up with excuses on the spot. Her mother merely raised an eyebrow, said "Is that so?" and walked back to the study.

"This can't go on, Martha!" She whispered to herself. "Look, I'll tell him tomorrow. The worst thing that could happen is him not loving me back, and he'll still be the same person." And so it was decided.

Over at the Coulton's house, Ollie was sleeping peacefully. He suddenly jerked awake, his Martha sense tingling.
"Tell her you love her tomorrow," his gut instinct murmured, "She might feel the same way!"
"Alright, alright," he gave in, making a mental note of it, "But only if she says it first."

A/N: Just watched "Horrible histories: a movie". I loved it! Theit.umor was 👌amazing. Is it just me or does the girl who played Orla look like Emma Watson? And can I just say, I totes ship her and Atty. Like, if there's a sequel, they just HAVE to get together. BTW, how do you guys think Batticus died? I think she was brutally murdered in her next battle, since she's lost lots of her followers. Also, I HATE the emperor; he's just SO stuck up! So, yeah. Comment below what you guys think of it.
