Novas Pov:
As I ran down the path in the park I looked out to the beautiful sunrise counting my marking point each time I passed it. After about 45 minutes of running I slowed down a pulled out my phone 7:15am My clock read. "Great I have more then enough time to get breakfast and go shower before my art class starts." I though to myself as I walked towards Ruby's diner. As I walked in I noticed the place was completely empty witch never happens I was the only customer and it honestly mad me extremely happy. Now I know I definitely don't have to rush this morning. I was ripped from my thoughts when Mrs. Ruby approached me. "Good morning sweetheart what can I get you for breakfast?" She asked kindly "I'll take Avocado toast with an egg and a orange juice" I say with a smile "That sounds good I think I'm gonna have the same thing. Do you want your egg dippy?" She responds with a chuckle. "Yes ma'am" I say with a nod. "Okay dear coming right up." I waited for my food in a daze when my phone started to ring causing me to jump. Looking down I noticed it was Alex. "Hello" I say into the phone "Goodmorning bitch" she screamed into the phone annoying. "Someone's in a good mood. What's up whore?" I respond causing her to laugh. "Actually I woke up feeling like shit, Josh told me he only wanted to be friends last night and it really fucked me up. I need to get out and do something. Go to Jammers with me tonight pleassssse?" She said sadly yet hopeful. "I love you but you know I don't like that stupid club." I say shutting her down. "PLEASE Nova, just do this one thing for your best friend?" After a few seconds of me debating I just agreed. "Yay I'll come by your room around 8 so we can get ready together. Thank boo love you" Before I can respond Mrs. Ruby greeted me with my plate of food "No probably, but hey my foods here now. I'll see you tonight. Love you too" I quickly spat into the phone before hanging up and grabbing the plate from Mrs Ruby. "Thank you so much it looks delicious" I said staring down at my food. "It's no problem. Enjoy sweetheart" she happily said before walking away.
When I finished eating I paid my check and decided to grab a to-go iced tea for my walk to class, which Miss Ruby insisted I didn't pay for. She really is the sweetest old lady around. She does such a good job at making everyone feel at home. This is definitely my favorite place on campus. Once I got outside the diner I decided to take the short way to class that way I had a little time to just chill and scroll through social media before the bell rang.
Once I reached the school it was crowded with people, as usual. So I walked around trying to find a place to sit. A few minutes of walking and I finally found an open bench in the shade. "Thank god" I thought to myself before sitting down and taking a sip of my tea. After a few minutes of just sitting there zoned out staring at my phone scrolling through instagram. A little later the bell rang and I headed to class.
After class I decided to go to the library to pick up some new books then head home for a much needed shower. Once I reached my room I noticed a vase of flowers with a note on my floor mat. "What the fuck?" I though to myself curious to know who they were from. Once I got into my room I put my stuff down and opened the note.
"Dear Nova. These flowers reminded me of you. I hope you like them. Xoxo -J"
As I read it out loud I was so confused. Who the fuck is J? I was going through my memory of the people I know trying to figure it out but had no idea who it could be. I don't normally get flowers. I was knocked out of my thoughts when my phone buzzed. It was a text from Alex.
Alex: About to shower then heading over to get ready 😊
Nova: Okay. 💗
After I hit send I threw the note away and decided to shower and forget about it until Alex was here to help me figure it out.
