Chapter 5

     It's been a few weeks since the start of the club and the club volunteers have started working around their schedules to help local shelters. Emma decided that she could walk one of the dogs for a while before studying for tests. She left Natalie a note and walked to the shelter. She showed her volunteer pass and was given a Dalmatian to walk. "Aren't you cute," Emma says to the dog. When they were about twenty blocks away from the shelter, it started to down pour. "Oh fuck," exclaimed Emma. In a hurry to get out of the rain, Emma turned around and ran back to the shelter with the dog. Once they reached the shelter, Emma stood inside panting to catch her breath while the Dalmatian wagged his tail in delight and ran around. When Emma was finally able to breathe normally again, she walked the dog back to his cage before her phone began to buzz. Emma quickly looked at the screen and saw that Natalie was calling her. "Hey, Nat," Emma said when she answered the call. "Emma, are you still at the shelter? It's pouring outside. I hope you're not walking any of the animals," Natalie said with concern in her voice. "Well I was walking a dog when it started pouring so we ran back. I'm inside the shelter now but I'm soaked and freezing," Emma replied. Natalie sighed before raiding Emma's pajama drawer. "The next bus should be there soon. Try to keep warm and I'll prepare things over here," she said while pulling out a soft pair of pajama pants and a T-shirt. "Okay. Thank you," said Emma before hanging up. Natalie then laid the clothes on Emma's bed before grabbing a towel and shower shoes so Emma can quickly take a shower when she arrives. Not long later Emma comes into the room soaking and shivering. "Oh my gosh Emma, you're going to catch a cold," Natalie said. "Go take a hot shower quickly. I don't want you getting sick." When Natalie shoved Emma's pajamas into her hands, Emma quickly went to the showers. She was shivering so much that it took her a while to finally get all of her clothes off. Once she stepped into the nice, hot shower, it took her a few minutes to finally warm up again and feel comfortable. After washing her hair and body, Emma dried off and got dressed quickly into her warm pajamas before going back to her dorm room where Natalie was waiting for her. Natalie nudged Emma towards the bed and Emma quickly made herself comfortable. "Wait here. I'm going to go grab some food from the cafeteria," said Natalie before rushing out of the room. In the mean time Emma grabbed her laptop from the desk next to her bed and started to scroll through Netflix for a movie. Natalie came back with cookies, packaged Raman noodles, and some other goodies. "Go put on pajamas and lay with me. You can warm me up while we watch a movie," said Emma with a blush dusting her cheeks. Natalie nodded before dropping the snacks on the bed and rushing off to change into pajama shorts and a tank top. After she was finished changing, Natalie crawled under the covers to lay down next to Emma. "Ugh, I'm still freezing," Emma said while shivering. "I'll try warming you up a little bit more," Natalie said while putting her arms around Emma and moving their bodies closer. While they watched the movie and ate their snacks, Emma finally began to warm up until eventually she became too hot in her warm pajamas. "Natalie it's getting really hot now," Emma said. "I need to go change before I start sweating." Natalie let go of Emma and let her get out of the bed to go change. Emma put on pajama shorts and a tang top before getting back into the bed next to Natalie. When Emma crawled back into the bed she noticed that her and Natalie's skin was touching since they both weren't wearing pajamas that covered themselves up. Emma blushed before cuddling up next to Natalie and continued watching the movie.
