"So," Natalie started, "we can start off small with just holding hands and such. Once we get comfortable enough we can go onto bigger stuff like sharing drinks and food." Emma was hesitant but nodded her head. "Ok," she agreed. "That sounds like a good idea." "Good," Natalie said. She got up and extended her hand out to Emma. "So why don't we start now? What do you say we go explore campus together?" Emma smiled as she took Natalie's hand. "That sounds like it would be fun. Let's go." They both held each others hand as they walked out of their dorm room. Emma smiled a little as they walked outside with their hands interlocked. She liked Natalie and she hoped Natalie liked her too. They walked around the perimeter of the campus while talking about simple things like family and such. "Do you want to get ice cream?" Asked Natalie. Emma's face lit up and she nodded her head. They walked down the street and went to the closest ice cream shop. When they walked in, they noticed that it was full with kids like normal. Emma hid their hands a bit by walking closer to Natalie. Noticing this, Natalie blushed slightly before leading them to the counter. "Hi, how can I help you?" Asked the man behind the counter. "I'll have two scoops of rocky road please," said Natalie. "And I'll have two scoops of chocolate peanut butter," said Emma while fetching her wallet. Natalie quickly took her wallet out and paid the cashier before Emma could even get her wallet open. "Hey. You can't pay for me too. That's not fair," Emma protested. Natalie smirked. "Well I was the one who asked you if you wanted ice cream so it is fair that I payed for the both of us." When the cashier put their ice cream on the counter, Natalie picked them both up, said thank you, and walked to a nearby table for two. Emma followed her, still protesting. "I'll pay you back then. How much was it?" She asked. "It was nothing. I'm not taking anything from you. Just eat your ice cream and enjoy," Natalie said before taking a bite of her rocky road. Emma finally gave up and began eating her ice cream. When they finished eating it was starting to get dark out so the two girls decided that it would be best for them to head back to campus. It was starting to get chilly out so Emma put her hands in her coat pocket to prevent them from freezing. Natalie glanced down, slightly disappointed that she couldn't hold Emma's hand. "How are you liking your classes?" Asked Emma. "They are good. Some stuff is a bit hard but I like the challenge," replied Natalie. "What about you? How are your classes?" "My classes are good. I'm so happy I'm finally able to take classes that I'm interested in rather than being stuck with high school classes," Emma said. Natalie laughed. "I understand that feeling," she said. "Even though it's only the beginning, I'm already liking college." "Me too," Emma said. "And being your roommate makes it even more enjoyable." This made Natalie blush a little. "I'm glad I got you as a roommate too," she said. Emma took one of her hands out of her coat pocket and held onto Natalie's hand the rest of the way to the dorms.
